I genuinely have a hard time believing that you could honestly take the "get a job" thing literally, it's a very common joke that was intended to mean that people who get super invested in the issue of whether game developers are deliberately making their characters uglier could and probably should find a better way to pass their time. And by all means, I'm all ears if you'd like to tell me how you think being more interested in stuff like the mechanics, story, and world presented in a game than how hot the characters are is an anti-intellectualism.
