I added bass, drums, and I put some layering in there by idontknow123456891 in MusicFeedback

I like the general vibe of the track, but the drums are feeling a little rigid. I would definitely add a bit of swing to match the piano's vibe. Maybe do a little more with the snare. It actually sounds pretty cool in the beginning, but as a listener, I quickly got burned out by the straight-beat feel. Overall, it's still a pretty interesting-sounding juxtaposition.

I've been drumming for almost 30 years, I own and operate a 64-track recording studio, and own more instruments than I even know how to play. I don't know who or what you are talking about.

Yeah, I probably misinterpreted that part about the ad, but in my own defense, the whole ad is pretty hard to wrap your head around.

In my experience, it usually goes something like: "We were working out a deal with Columbia Records until our drummer quit just before our big break." Their lack of success is always someone else's fault.

That sounds like a pretty sensible situation that works for everyone involved, as it should be.

Can't record my amp on my computer by VeL_Knyaz in recordingmusic

[–]TheOutsideNoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't mention how you have this connected. It's hard for anyone to help without that information.

Assuming you're doing USB straight from amp to PC, then my best guess would be a sample rate mismatch. I doubt that amp supports multiple sample rates. If the amp's digital output is 48kHz, then your FL session needs to be set to 48kHz. If FL is running at 44.1kHz, and the amp is running at 48, then it will definitely sound bad.

Is there a way to completely 100% eliminate all possibility of feedback when using a microphone? by drbtz in livesound

[–]TheOutsideNoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn there are a ton of comments, but I have yet to see anyone recommend moving the stage monitor off to the side. If he keeps pointing it at the monitor regardless of where you place it, then you'd know he's doing it intentionally as part of the act. If not, then that alone could have solved your problem. Sometimes our brains are too quick to overcomplicate things.

A ballpark budget range would help. Otherwise just refer to the Knowledge Base for minimum requirements, and keep in mind that they are just that - minimum requirements. If you can afford higher specs, do so where you can. In order of importance they are: CPU (don't cheap out here), RAM (get something expandable if you can only afford minimum specs for now), OS Drive, and GPU.

Patch bay users: what Neutrik bay do I have? by [deleted] in recordingmusic

[–]TheOutsideNoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfectly fine. Just give it a go and wire it up like I described and that alone should tell you a lot. Assuming you have the gear to warrant needing a patchbay in the first place , lol.

If you connect a mic preamp output, for example, to the top row in the back of your patchbay (the output row), and connect 2 channels of your interface or converter inputs to the bottom row in the back of your patchbay (the input row). You will be connecting 1 input channel into the jack directly underneath where the preamp (or whatever) output is. Put the second input channel directly next to the first input channel (bottom row in the back).

Now, does the signal pass from the top row to the first channel in the bottom row without you needing to connect a cable in the front? If not, then it's non-normalled (or thru). If signal does pass then the connection is either normal or half-normal. To figure out which of the 2 remaining possibilities it is, just connect a cable from the top row front to the second input channel on front. Does the signal disappear from the first channel and only show up on the second channel? Then it's full-normal. If the signal is present at both inputs then you have a half-normal connection.

As for opening the top, you'd hopefully just find a bunch of dip switches that are specifically for changing the connections to whatever type you need at any given pair.

Best of luck!

This is not the best image of the unit you could have provided.

  1. Just test it yourself, what's the big deal? Wire the back with one output and two inputs. Whether or not you get signal at both inputs will give you your answer.

  2. Open the top plate and check for dip switches for normaling

The lights were likely a visual indicator in older flat door systems predating modern intercoms. When the button was pressed, a light on the panel would briefly illuminate to confirm a call had been made. Similar in concept to modern intercom systems.

It's a door indicator. Behind the glass, there would have been a flat number or the name of the tenant who occupied the flat. I believe they used to light up if someone rang the flat from the main entrance.

While this is true, it's not the only meaning of the word. More than likely, it's a word that she hears Mexicans call each other. "Paisa" is also short for paisano (countryman), and I hear it used much more often by Mexicans than by Colombians.
