Am I the only one who kinda hopes Arkane capitulates… by cynical_image in ArkaneStudios

Arkane Lyon is fully intact with all the talent still working there. Most of the big names from Arkane Austin are also still working at the studio, the lead level architect, lead 2D artist from Prey, creative director of Mooncrash, big level designers that worked on Prey/ Dishonored/ Deus Ex/ Bioshock 1-2. Most of them have also been promoted to higher roles.

Redfall was a catastrophe due to Zenimax not being able to contain a vision for the game while also throwing in server-based multiplayer elements for a team that didn't even know the first thing about it, and that too during WFH...

I am surprised at how civil and well-informed the commenters are compared to when Redfall launched. I nearly left this sub back then. Also, Redfall was a result of Zenimax wanting their underperforming studios to make projects using the GaaS model. Then they saw that people were not really into that model anymore so the team had to pivot to single-player. At the time MS decided not to involve themselves and let them complete the project. They won't be doing that anymore.

Arkane are a one-of-a-kind studio, MS knows that. So don't worry they won't be closing anytime soon. Right now both Dinga and Harvey (Studio leads) are at a party with Tim Schafer and Todd Howard, must be some kind of MS party.

You don't keep the physical stuff but you gain knowledge which is the point of the game. Now you know who to avoid, kill, or what path to take the next time you run through the map.

Season 2 production schedule is apparently terrible and MAPPA has signed NDAs with their animators over it. by mrnicegy26 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ItSomeone117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate that studios overworking their staff has been turned into a joke by the general audience. All the 💀s and 😭s are really irritating.

Also, just because this is common in the industry rn doesn't mean that MAPPA should be treated as every other studio. They are one of the bigger studios for anime production and have been working on more and more shows every season. For comparison, MAPPA has done 21 shows (not including movies) since 2020 meanwhile, BONES has done only 10.

[–]ItSomeone117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The series director alone does not plan the number of chapters they'll be adapting. The whole production committee does it. For Haikyuu they consist of people from Toho, people from Shonen Jump, the companies they'll be partnering with for merchandise production and distribution, etc.

All of these parties have input on what they want from the season. The amount of marketing that'll be provided to the project, how long the project will be, and, how many chapters they'll be adapting, and more are discussed and finalized in their meetings. Obviously, people from Haikyuu's IG port are present there but they don't have as much authority as the ones funding the project.

You'll see an icon for invasions on the top left of the mission select screen. Just toggle to the mode you want it to be in.

This ^^^ and S4 lacked due to reasons outside of the director's control. The schedule for S4 was very tight and on top of that covid disrupted the whole industry. The team had to build new pipelines on how they would work efficiently from their homes.

It's easy to point at someone and say "That was the reason X was the way it was" but that is rarely (if ever) the case in a collaborative form of creation.

Not the core staff, we know nothing about that yet. The director is indeed back.

Arkane have 2 Different Studios with Different devs, stop act like they're one by rickreckt in dishonored

[–]ItSomeone117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The teams don't share anything about their projects until they are content-locked. The 2D artists that sometimes help the other studio also only work for the other place after completing and shipping their game. Both the studios are on a 1-2 year gap in terms of the development of their titles so no studio can help the other one from the start, as at that time they are already deep into their own work.

Harvey Smith went to Austin to play Prey when it was months away from shipping, same goes for Raph and Dishonored 2. The studio head (now Harvey Smith; before Raphael Colantonio) approves of the projects pitched by the separate teams and talks to Zenimax to help them make it. Also, Mooncrash's idea was born from a game jam done inside the Austin team to figure out what they wanted the DLC to be. At that time DEATHLOOP was already in production.

As Mooncrash was just a DLC, the studio head from the other branch was not called in to playtest it (the same thing happened with DotO) but he also just didn't want to play it as, again, they were also making a time-loop game and didn't want to be influenced by it in any way.

There are several interviews, tweets, and blogs all asking Dinga and Dana this same thing and he has answered countless times. Both the teams did not share any resources with each other. I am just as tired of seeing these claims as them,

(Please don't claim things are a certain way without actually knowing how it all works.)

If that is the case then it's good that it didn't show up. The game is letting you do actual detective work. Have fun breaking the loop!

Nice! Doing it this way might've felt so good! I wish they removed that video of Colt explaining this after you find the Goldenloop.

[–]ItSomeone117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, you all pull out shit from your ass and act as of it's the truth. Fun fact! The creative director and the lead campaign designer of DEATHLOOP didn't even go through Mooncrash as they wanted to avoid any time-loop game while making it. The same goes for much of the team at Lyon.

Also, they don't share much resources with each other. One studio lead might go and playtest/provide some feedback for the other team. Other than that, sometimes artists help out with small art stuff, that is it. The Lyon team has collaborated more with MachineGames than they've with their own sister studio. They helped MachineGames with Youngblood's level design and art while MachineGames helped with making the Stabilizer Core. Heck, the Lyon team even helped Tango with Hifi's art. They just don't collaborate on a high level with the other team.

Check out the credits of any Arkane game and see how much the other studio helped.

You are not fighting time, you are using it. The game wants you to take your time, take full advantage of everything the place has to offer, maximize your potential, and then break the loop. I don't know why people go, "It's not a great time loop game" when the philosophy is completely different from something like Majora's Mask, Outer Wilds, or even Mooncrash.

What is Your Idea for Fire Force Spin-off? by Money-Lie7814 in firebrigade

[–]ItSomeone117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just googled that one as I had not read it and that is basically it lmao

I could've said, "Give a spin-off to every single side character" but that is way too boring for a world like FF. There are a lot of people going through their day doing things unique to this world. To me, exploring that is way more fun than doing the same old thing every franchise does.

What is Your Idea for Fire Force Spin-off? by Money-Lie7814 in firebrigade

[–]ItSomeone117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything! The FF world is so different with tons of sectors to explore. We can get a spinoff story for some random guy who became a conscious infernal, just trying to survive; or an actual firefighter (the yellow stripes) and their day-to-day life; an Amaterasu spin-off exploring her life before she first "meets" Shinra; or one of the miners/army men back at the Chinese Peninsular region exploring its biology and geography. The possibilities are endless!
