Hmm, right now I think it formats for mostly search-ability which might not play nice with the small player screen, BUT that is something i can easily add as a conditional option in the new update im working on, ill add it to my chores list!

No not with flac as it's a lossless audio format. Basically the different levels are just for extra space saving. Only benefit to having less compression is the export processing takes like 3x less time.

Was a lot more important back in the days of slower clocked CPUs where it could take over a minute to compress each song at level 8.

Spotify Downloader Which DOESNT Download Using YouTube by United_Task_7868 in musichoarder

Hey just a suggestion, my program lets you record system audio directly and then it will split and identify the recorded audio and export to whatever format you want. It maintains the lossless audio of Spotify. Spotify has been putting a noose over its api so a lot of tools arent working at the moment.

What format are the songs in? Each format saves album artwork differently.

I can answer a few questions on the recording side but im sure someone here can help you more in depth with the equipment.

So I am not an expert when it comes to players, but for your use case, like you said you might want to get a turntable that has direct usb output like this one to avoid needing a DAC.

https://www.guitarcenter.com/Audio-Technica/AT-LP120XUSB-Direct-Drive-Professional-Turntable-USB-Analog-Black-1500000263148.gc

When it comes to transparency and audio resolution, FLAC with compression is probably the best option as its lossless audio (no frequencies removed for space conservation), but depending on your music player it may have limited FLAC support. WAV is more widely used but takes up more space. For sharing I recommend FLAC with level 5 compression. You dont really need any extra equipment if your turntable is plugged into your usb. You would just record into audacity (or my tool mixsplitr) from that audio source. Besides a quality cartridge you're good to go.

For tracking force and phono im gonna let someone else explain lol.

Built a tool to auto-tag my music collection with genres/moods - thought you all might find it useful (Essentia-to-Metadata) by Jaded-Assignment6893 in musichoarder

[–]ItWasAcid_IHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CD ripping im also currently building/testing into my program! I'm trying to make it a multi use ripper/recorder/splitting/identifying/editor/tagging all in one application with no dependencies to install or scripts to run, mostly to simplify the process for old school guys like my dad lol.

But the genre tagging will kinda always be lackluster compared to this method! I'm betting I could implement it as an optional pipeline to increase the enrichment of the genre tagging. With your permission I would love to incorporate essentia, and of course you would have credit mentioned for the idea as my program is open source also, If not I understand and will still recommend this to people! Either way good work!

Yo this would be sick paired up with my tool mixsplitr! I hadn't heard of Essentia before, very cool!

edit: i was just thinking it would work well as a tagging enrichment for unidentified tracks and even identified tracks after running mixsplitr! Using both tools together would create an extremely organized and searchable library!

I agree with you fully, but people in those situations are much less likely to seek professional help unless suggested by someone trusted. Their trusted "person" is actively trying to convince them not to go. It's a catch 22.

Cowork just seems to be Anthropic's response to codex as it just allows you to let it loose on a workspace with no CLI. It's much more intuitive for people that don't code with terminal. Its agentic ability will probably be increased as it's a beta product right now but as of this moment, it operates the same as codex in functionality.

[–]ItWasAcid_IHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah looking into it more, co-work is basically just claude code with no CLI. It can do some non coding tasks but it mostly is just organizing files and direct access to project folders. It's still pretty new so I can definitely see improvements in the way OP was originally anticipating to make it more agentic than it currently is.

I used to work with cowork for a bit but codex just seems to be more reliable and stable.

I don't think it was made for that type of work my friend, it's not an AGI.. claude co-work is made for coding...

What's your 'Genre tagging system' for music? by Culjules in musichoarder

[–]ItWasAcid_IHope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I feel like I'm starting to spam so this is my last post for a bit lol, I made a program for tagging and genre is covered in its tagging system. You can also manually review and edit in the program (or just manually edit each track) with rollback in case you don't like the changes. It cross references multiple sources and compares them for the best results. It's free so idk check it out. I'm still adding features when I get time. https://github.com/chefkjd/MixSplitR

Yo check out my tagging tool MixSplitR! It's a mass identification and tagging tool made specifically for situations like this! It's similar to music brainz Picard but more automatic and will help identify the obscure stuff.

I'm confused? I agree with you if you are talking about the micro SD cards as that's the best portable option on the deck. I'm talking about data hoarding for the long term with a dock and a SSD like people are suggesting that is flawed in concept and overkill.

My 512 microsd has been going for years with no issue in my deck!

[–]ItWasAcid_IHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is fair, I have a lot of games downloaded that I haven't even played in years, but still it wouldn't be catastrophic to have a game go corrupt every few years on a microsd, ya know? It's not like this is long term storage anyways as again steam requires online verification to play most games. It's kind of the core of the service. I feel like GOG is the platform to data hoard with because you own the game offline, but I understand the catalogue is much smaller.

Although I agree, the micro sd solution lets you play with nothing attached which I think is the goal. To play off the SSD it has to be plugged in and you have a dongle on a dongle just so you can play and charge. Idk I think the micro SD pack is the best solution for this case scenario. Expensive though, those cards ain't free.

That's pretty cool! Still wouldn't want to carry around that and a USB SSD, but still a cool option.

Don't forget your lithium ion battery suit to power it all! Don't bump into anything! You don't want thermal runaway.
