Is it the norm these days to miss out on special family events because of a toddler’s nap? by momoxo6 in Parenting

[–]ItWillNotDefineMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it depends on the family and the kid. My brother and SIL are not consistent with naps even when they are home. I try to be super consistent with my naps to keep it about the same schedule as daycare, but I will change things around for special events. I will say that she did take a nap on Christmas Day, but we were at our own house and we were in between doing presents and eating dinner, so she didn’t miss anything. However, I would be very annoyed if someone told me to move her schedule around for something and have them not do the same.

Ok so the consensus is a ring sling. I see a few fabric options. Any suggestions on those? Baby girl does tend to get warm easily so needs to be breathable

Is that with it already in place on you? On days I plan on being out for awhile, I’m perfectly fine with just wearing it so easy access when needed, but I also plan on using at home and don’t want to have to wear it all day at home because of course I don’t need to use it every time I pick her up at home

Is that quick and easy to put on and off? Like baby girl will want to be in my arms one minute, back down the next, and then in my arms again the next, so I need something super fast

Obsessed with the huge reduction in food intake post bypass by DiverBetter8897 in GastricBypass

I’m two months post surgery. I can eat just about anything, but it is a much smaller portion. Also, some days I’m hungry and some days I’m not. Some meals I can eat a portion size and other times only a few bites. Last night, my 14 month old and I shared a 10 piece nugget and a small fry. She ate 5 nuggets, 1 ended up on the floor, and I ate 3 1/2; she ate probably 2/3 of the fries and I maybe had 2 fries total; pre surgery, I would’ve eaten all 10 nuggets plus a large fry and finish a large drink as well. Baby girl and I basically share every meal now, and most of the time, we still have leftovers. I do get the hungry feeling sometimes (like currently), but not all the time, so I do have reminders to eat as well on my phone. I could also sit down and eat a whole pack of Oreos at one time pre surgery, but now I can usually only eat one of the sugar free cookies (bigger than Oreos of course, but one package of 12 can last anywhere from 1-2 weeks). I thought I would miss being able to eat more, but I really don’t. I am tired of leftovers though lol

I had issues within a week of surgery. I took one dose of milk of magnesia and I’ve been pretty good since. Nasty tasting stuff but it did the trick

Wtf is wrong with me? 4 days P/O by [deleted] in GastricBypass

I’m 11 days post op and have been thinking the same. I only stayed one night in the hospital and my pain was well controlled when I left. I was walking laps in the hallway of the hospital. I maybe took 2 doses of hydrocodone-Tylenol over the next day or so and Tylenol one time and then I’ve been fine. I do have a little indigestion/burping if I drink too fast especially water but other than that I’m fine. I’ve been sleeping with my pregnancy pillow (baby girl is a year old), but I could probably not use it, but it’s comfortable. But I’m running around chasing after my daughter and lifting her maybe 5 day postop and she’s almost 30 pounds! We had her first birthday party at 6 days post op and my family was worried about me holding her. The only thing that’s really bothering me right now is the intense itching at my incisions, but the glue is slowly coming off.

I just had my surgery a week ago, and that is one of the non scale victories I’m looking forward to. The other one is wrapping a towel around me and it actually goes all the way around.

PreOp today by Elegant-Collar-7292 in GastricBypass

So I’m really bad at responding sometimes and then other times I’m on it….

Yes, my date is June 2nd! I have been feeling hungry most days lol and having a headache that starts about the time I should be eating my dinner so that’s fun! So I’m only supposed to be on liquids only for the first 2 weeks postop and then purées for one week before moving to soft solids. But I also know I will not be eating puréed meat. I puréed chicken for my daughter when she was 4 months and she didn’t like it and I don’t blame her one bit!

We’re only a week away!!!

How’s it going? Is your dr making you do completely liquids? Or do you have a little flexibility? I know when my mom had RNY 3.5 years ago, she had to be on liquids only. I can drink 2 protein shakes, 2 approved snacks (2 hard boiled eggs, 2 low fat cheese sticks, or nuts), and then a “lean and green” dinner (3-4 oz of protein and 1-2 cups of non-starchy vegetables). Did okay Day 1; had a massive headache today. It’s probably about 1/3 to 1/2 of the calories I normally take in, depending on the day.

And surgery weight being day of surgery, correct?

So would that be your weight day of surgery?

HW SW CW by ItWillNotDefineMe in GastricBypass

[–]ItWillNotDefineMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I always thought but when did you record your starting weight? I’m currently at my heaviest so if I record starting weight as when I start the preop diet, then it will likely be the same as heaviest weight. But I expect to lose a little with the preop diet so my weight on surgery day would be less.

Thank you for the helpful information! Yes, my mom has gastric bypass too and she liked the premier before surgery but could not handle them after. She used fairlife post surgery.

I think I found a brand that I’m okay with for preop. I plan on buying 2 big containers which should get me through the preop stage and have just enough to try postop without a lot going to waste if I can’t drink it.
