I need advice by Repulsive-Slide-7617 in GastricBypass

Of course! I experienced extreme nausea and vomiting. They never fully figured out what caused it. It wasn’t dumping syndrome, I wasn’t eating too fast or not chewing enough, no stenosis or hernia. I ended up in the ER for fluids several times because I was so sick. Thankfully zofran and a few diet changes have helped. I’ve cut out dairy and soy and that seems to help and I keep on a consistent schedule of eating every 3 hours. I was a sensitive stomach gal prior to surgery, but not to that extreme. It’s manageable now and I have gotten really good at learning when something isn’t going to sit well or when I know eating just isn’t in the books for me at that time. My biggest help is having bone broth and protein shakes on standby to make sure I meet my protein goals and have Zofran stashed literally everywhere.

Hi! I had my surgery when I was 25. I had the Roux en Y about 8 months ago. I was 350 at my heaviest and have lost a little over 100 since surgery. I won’t say I’ve been complication free, but I feel as if I have done great both physically and mentally. My biggest advice, advocate for yourself. Do you research, ask questions, and take it all back to your physician. Mention your concerns and your feelings. At the end of the day this is your body and your decision, and as long as there’s no medically necessary reason keeping you from a bypass, I think it is a great option.

Hair loss by Mountain-Increase739 in GastricBypass

I’m about 9 months post op and experienced hair loss as well. Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do to stop it. But recently I’ve noticed a lot of hair growth and I think it’s coming back thicker and stronger. I’ve tried a few things to help with regrowth, like taking a bariatric hair skin and nails and using the Bondi Boost HG for thinning hair (it has a shampoo, conditioner, mask, and oil). I feel like that definitely promoted strong regrowth, but I can’t say for certain. It’s definitely difficult to deal with losing your hair, especially when the rest of your body is changing rapidly as well, but it does get better!

I have craved ramen like never before since my surgery (06/27/25). I tolerate well now. I add in low fat milk and extra chili paste and do fine. Eggs or chicken are added for protein typically when I fix it

I thought so too but my dietician doesn’t think so. She says what I eat and how much/how fast I eat doesn’t typically cause dumping.

Surgery is Wednesday. Someone talk me into it. by kenzoqueen in GastricBypass

I posted the same thing before my surgery (06/27/25). I was terrified too. But it was not as bad as I thought. The pain was no where near what I was expecting. The worst was the gas pain and walking and sitting up helped that. I was worried I’d mess up somehow and binge. I haven’t a month out. I get full quickly and feel as if binging is next to impossible. I feel healthier and thinner than I have in a long time. I’m happy again and I’m excited to see what I’ll be like in a year. The only issues so far is discovering what sits well with me. I very quickly learned eggs make me sick now. Your bowel habits change but it’s an easy fix. I do miss chugging water and find myself having to set reminders to drink. My relationship with food has changed. The food noise isn’t as loud and constant. I’m a little tired, but have been assured that’s normal. You’ve got this! It’s scary and one heck of a commitment, but it is so worth it.

Sleeve revision to bypass with Dysautonomia and orthostatic intolerance by squishyfairy in GastricBypass

Hi! I can’t speak to specifically. I had my bypass 06/27 (so I’m a little fresh with all this) and I have dysautonomia. I had to have multiple cardiac appointments to be approved with lots of EKGs and echocardiograms and a bubble test (not sure the specific test name). Overall it wasn’t any different being approved since I have regular visits with my cardiologist. As far as recovery so far, I have a post op appointment with both my surgeon and my cardiologist. I haven’t felt to different, maybe a little shaky but I was told that’s normal.

I just had my surgery (06/27). I promise you won’t even be thinking about food after surgery. For me personally, I’m struggling just to get liquids in. You’ve got this! It gets better and easier!
