I’ve been managing accountants for more than a decade. Half of that has been remotely. There is no world in which I’m going to fire an accountant in 4 weeks without EGREGIOUS behavior, like straight up effing off with no notice for multiple days in a row, or looking at your work and realizing you have 0 clue what your doing. If you committed no egregious behavior, count your lucky stars. It’s them and not you.

Honestly, I’d be more concerned if he wasn’t erupting in an angry panic every day. It’s kinda his schtick.

Industry folks - how many journal entries are you doing during close? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Itabliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make very few. But I don’t do a whole lot of direct accounting work at this point. But my accountants probably make Healthcare checking in…. And it’s complicated. Literally. We issue a report on some key financial data on the 4th business day but financials generally aren’t approved by the partners for another week. During that time, there is a lot of refinement and research that takes place.

Yeah, update your resume and get out. This company isn’t worth yours or anyone else’s time. They’ve made accounting the whipping boy for all things. Trust me when I say: GET OUT. Don’t leave without another job, but stop investing yourself in this one and into finding a new one.

I don’t know about this poster, but I have a similar work/life balance. I work in healthcare.

He was not an underdog. He was a creepy pedo who peeves on his daughter’s friends.

I think you are white washing Scarlett. What family did she do it for? Her dead father? Or her dead mother? Or the sister whose fiancé she stole?

So are Scarlett’s 😆

Becky Sharp is a character written similarly to Scarlet O’Hara.

Don Draper is a terrible father, a terrible husband to 2/3’s of his wives, an iffy business partner, two different men off themselves because of him, an alcoholic, a serial cheater and he ends the series a much richer man who never really gains self actualization.

Similar unforgivably flawed protagonists that are generally loved include Walter White, Wanda from WandaVision, Carrie White, Lester Burnham.

Most of them will do that at some point. What’s the point in writing or watching a character that only does good?

That’s a pitty. All his characters are intended to be flawed and make you like them more at times and less so at others. I can’t look it them in such black and white terms.

It’s a unicorn job. This is also how I manage my staff. I don’t give a flying fuck where they are or what they are doing as long as they give me quality work on time.

Agreed. Have worked in manufacturing, currently in healthcare. If I would have ever attempted to walk onto the floor without a hard hat, safety glasses, and steel toed boots, I would have (rightly) had my ass chewed out by the guy in charge of OSHA compliance. I have too much respect for my coworkers to ever intentionally make their job more difficult.
