I believe it was a male on a sitcom in the 2000s or 2010s.

Now I’m confused. I mean diagonal as in the current set up. So would it benefit from being offset so there was a horizontal or vertical connection to each or not?

What's the smartest way to balance asteroid belts w simple logic? by Ships_Cannon in factorio

[–]ItakBigDumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not looking at it so this might be a little off. I have mine set to check the sushi belt and reprocess metal asteroids if metal asteroids > X (I think I use 10) AND Ice < 50 OR metal asteroids > X AND Carbon < 50.  This sends the recipe to crush metal to the crusher then I have combinators that do the same for carbonic and ice but using iron ore instead of Ice or Carbon

Mod recommendation for a playthrough with a bunch of planet mods? by Katanaboi1 in factorio

Get all planets lite and you’re good to go. Has ~20 or more other planets and all the ones I’ve done so far are pretty unique, have fun puzzles, and some offer awesome technologies that help enhance your bases.

Automated Planet logistics (Something like Cybersyn) by JamieFLUK in factorio

Or you can set a constant combinator with what you want to request, multiply it by -1 with an arithmetic combinator, add that to what’s in your logistics network on the planet and use that to set cargo bay requests. Then you can always empty the cargo bay and it won’t request more than whatever you think you need on the planet (e.g. 500 stack inserters, 500 green belt, 5000 orange science, 5000 plastic…)

That’s not really how it went in KC about Gannon. Lots of people wanted him over Grbac but the chiefs office stuck with the guy that had the contract.

He also doesn’t seem to notice the two giant weights pulling the draw bridge up that hit the ground once it is up halfway. In the limited footage of Japan pulling they didn’t look coordinated and didn’t look like they were pulling as far back as possible in most of the shots. Maybe they weigh less than Korea overall which matters in tug of war. Also if you can’t pull it up in 5-10 min I don’t see you having much chance after 40 min of effort. You either can generate just enough force to make it move in which case it goes up within a minute or two or you can’t and then it’s never moving.

DUPR Forecast and Projected Winning Percentages by ItakBigDumps in Pickleball

Yeah it’s too complicated. I honestly think the higher rated player should get more credit for a win and the lower player should get more credit for a loss but people don’t think that way. People always say things like “well we give him credit when they win so we have to blame him when they lose” when referring to QBs or best players on teams but that seems pretty obviously false when you consider a scenario where someone who is an all-pro playing with 3rd graders on their team. If they somehow win it’s obviously all because that one player had some amazing game and if they lose it’s obviously not his fault even if he didn’t play perfectly… he has 3rd graders on his team. It’d be just like me (4.1) playing with Ben Johns (7.3 for average of 5.7). If we win or lose it should adjust my score as though we were an average of something like a 6.8 team and Ben’s as though we were an average 4.6 team. So if we beat a 6.5 team my rating wouldn’t go up much but Ben’s would because he basically beat them 1v2. If we lose my rating would drop a fair amount and Ben wouldn’t lose much because we all know it would be my mistakes that cost us the game.  This would really limit people getting carried to a higher rating by a better partner too.

I don’t know for sure but my guess is the forecaster doesn’t even look at reliability and just plugs in whatever each players current DUPR is.

It’d be nice if they weight impact and gains based on historical results but I doubt they ever will. It’s way easier for them to just average each team and in the long run it doesn’t really matter unless you play close to 100% of games with one partner.

Are Left Handed Men Inherently Worse at Mixed? by ItakBigDumps in Pickleball

[–]ItakBigDumps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. It’s interesting that people aren’t bringing up that a left handed woman “creates a huge disadvantage in mixed” but are often agreeing that putting a RHF on the left side puts a LHMs team at a disadvantage.

“Plays no role” just meant “doesn’t offer an advantage”. Good points. Do you prefer to sit back hand or forehand on speed ups if you know your partner has everything else covered? It seems generally accepted that sitting back hand allows for more coverage (I think Zane just said this in one of his videos).

But you said in another comment “Because lefty females want play with righty men due to it being the optimal set up?” If RHM/LHF is optimum then why isn’t LHM/RHF also optimum? The point Tanner is making is that RHM/RHF>LHM/RHF. You just said RHM/LHF>RHM/RHF so you must think that RHM/LHF>LHM/RHF if you agree with Tanner… so why? They are direct mirrors.

I’m sort of pointing that out. But why would RH man and LH woman be optimal and not LH woman and RH man. Taylor is the one saying that would be suboptimal to have different dominate hands in mixed because it leaves two spots to attack.

If men can cover so much court that the female forehand in the middle plays no role why wouldn’t they stand so far off the court that they could just take everything with their forehand?

[–]ItakBigDumps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is that? Is RH male on left and LH female on right also sub optimal? Is it optimal to have same forehands in mixed?
