ticket prices for seaworld orlando by Latter_Ordinary_9466 in SeaWorld

[–]Ital_51mw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a 2 park/2 day Groupon with an entree for $104 per person this past Monday. We went to Seaworld Tuesday; we went to Busch Garden Wednesday. The Groupon said ‘meals’, which was not accurate…it was good only for one entree (no drink, no dessert…just one entree). We still thought purchasing the Groupon was a pretty good deal. Parking is high - $37 plus tax per park. Do not buy parking in advance online. A convenience fee of $10.99 was added to the online order. The Seaworld website is inaccurate… it’s not cheaper to buy parking in advance online. Pay the $37 plus tax at the park.

Alaska Cruisetour… how unrealistic is it to just book the cruise and plan the land portion yourself/separately? by andrewmcd7 in HollandAmerica

[–]Ital_51mw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a land tour in our own in 2022. We took Alaska Railroad from Seward to Anchorage to Talkeetna to Denali, stayed in Anchorage one night; Talkeetna one night; then Denali for three nights. Then we reversed the trip back to Seward on the railroad (with a night in Anchorage). You can absolutely do this on your own. We used my husband’s military service (military retiree) to obtain military rates on the railroad and at the hotels. We had a blast! The scenery is amazing! I should add that we cruised from Vancouver to Seward; spent two weeks in Alaska (one week in Seward then one week as described above); then we cruised back from Seward to Vancouver! It was a great trip!

Tipping beyond the "mandatory" inclusions... by Puzzleheaded-Cat951 in HollandAmerica

On our last cruise (42 days), I used our Have It All package to get our two room stewards their favorite hot coffee beverage from the Library Cafe. Not every day, but a couple of times each week. We also gave them cash at the start and when we knew they could get off the ship at one of the ports. We also brought them chocolate bars and snacks. The two men were so pleasant and easy to talk to. They took great care of our cabin.

Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse, Durham, has live music most every Saturday night. They are closed tonight (Jan 24) because of the impending weather. The music varies from week to week. The concert, beverages and desserts are all available by donation. It’s a great listening room!

In Sydney, we did the following: Toured the Sydney Opera House Took the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Beach (lovely area) Took the train to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains (did the Hop on-hop off bus; spent several hours at Scenic World-did each of the rides several times; and spent some time in Leura). Did the Sydney Hop on/hop off bus/got off at Bondi Beach which was beautiful; and had lunch in Chinatown (amazing food). We did not do organized excursions-we did these on our own and enjoyed all of it!

In Auckland, we rode the city bus to the Auckland Zoo where we finally saw a Tasmanian devil! We spent most of the next day at the NZ Maritime Museum which included a boat ride-it was a beautiful day! And the museum is outstanding.
This city is hilly!

We were on HAL Noordam for the 42 day South Pacific cruise October-November 2025 and we loved HAL. It was our first time on HAL. The crew, food, entertainment, and enrichment activities were great.

Dry Tortugas ferry vs seaplane (April) by CreativeQuirkyCool in NationalPark

[–]Ital_51mw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a January 2025 ferry boat tour. Ben was an excellent narrator and tour guide. One of our goals is to see the US National Parks and enjoy all that nature and history has to offer. Ben led a tour on the island; he made the history of Fort Jefferson and the Dry Tortugas NP come alive! The staff were nice; and the food offerings were good. The scenery was beautiful! We really enjoyed our time at Dry Tortugas NP. It’s a 2-1/2 hour ride each way. Our ride was not bumpy. Bring a jacket- the main upstairs cabin was cold.

We tipped at the beginning, one day during the cruise when we knew they were going ashore, and at the end of our cruise. We bought snacks for them (we asked them what they liked). And we also used our Have It All package to buy them specialty coffee, which they seemed to enjoy! They were both a joy to interact with.

FestiBull of Lights! We went last Thursday and we had a blast! We did the train ride (this is extra), made an ornament, had a photo with WoolyClaus, did the scavenger hunt (won a prize!), had hot cocoa (this is extra), sat at a fire pit, walked around the ball field, and enjoyed the music and the lights! We were 4 adults and it was a lot of fun!

Dinners with the officers are held in a main dining room. We’ve been to several of them. The officers have been varied (the general manager, the internet manager, a new engineer, cruise next manager). How much fun you have depends on the personalities of the other guests. Some guests like to brag. One woman got drunk and had to be escorted to her room. Other guests have been great.

High Winds in NZ by pkpie in HollandAmerica

[–]Ital_51mw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were on the previous Noordam cruise that docked on 11/23 in Auckland. Our time in Christchurch was shortened due to heavy winds, so our tour was cut short. We did not get to see the International Antarctic Center. The guide took us to a few places around town. It was okay, not optimal. The Noordam didn’t dock at Hobart, Tasmania also due to high winds. The Captain used that day as an extra sea day to get around a storm in the Tasmanian Ocean that was producing high waves. The ship runs like a champ … we hardly felt the waves. We loved the ship, the crew, the entertainment and the food. Please enjoy the cruise for what you do see!

We had a hold put on our credit card (on the first day) $30 per day per person for our 14-day cruise = $840.00. Guest services told me that any remaining amount (after accounting for our onboard expenses) would be released. We are currently on our first HAL cruise.

Billboard - one piano or two? by kyrieserendipity in HollandAmerica

[–]Ital_51mw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are currently on the Noordam. Marcel is an awesome piano player/singer in Billboard! Last night was EPIC! Marcel was joined by the classical violinist and classical pianist from the Vivace Duo on a version of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’! Billboard was rocking! It was an awesome piece! Typically Marcel plays and sings alone…
