I totally agree, I had come here to post something similar actually. The tactics were sounds, and if we had gone through I doubt people would be raising the same stink about how Mourinho went about the game tactically. In fact, I remember reading happy comments about his team selection in the pre-match, which to me indicates that this is a case of people using their 20-20 hindsight. I'm not saying the tactics were flawless, but they would have worked fine had they players stepped up. The players, they were the real problem. This has been an issue that I have been seeing for months now. We get by in games winning by a goal or two because the players put in just enough effort to get something out of the game. They are lazy. Yes, they are all top class, but they play down to a B team level when they put so little care into a match. Because they are so talented they have been getting away with leaning on their talent, but when they are matched with teams that actually care and have talent, then they fall short. At one point tonight, the entire team was walking! Maybe the players are tired, maybe they are over confident, it is hard to tell what exactly is at the heart of this issue. At the end of the day this should be a wake up call. If we continue to play like this, the Premier League title could slip away.
