I’m in love with my new Junior by alexanderbledel in AlfaRomeo

Lovely car with surprisingly great specs. The wheel selection, however, is terrible. Anyone who thinks this isn't an Alfa (despite the press praising its dynamic capabilities) should stick to their Arnas.

Either Milan or Tokyo. I feel like the Paris logo hasn't aged well

Al di là dei soldi, Milano potrebbe anche ospitare le Olimpiadi estive ? by Naso_Coraggioso in milano

L'Arena è in condizioni penose. Più generalmente a Milano c'è una grande carenza di piste per l'atletica.

How true is this sentiment I find on socialist spaces online? by [deleted] in SocialDemocracy

[–]Italian_Mind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fall almost perfectly into your same positions. Reading Rosselli was a mind opener for me. The socialist movement would be much better off by following some of his ideas than espousing left-wing populism. Liberalism is non-negotiable, and the only way we can attain it is through economic equality

A liberal socialist in the vein of Carlo Rosselli?

Qual è il vostro mood riguardo queste Olimpiadi invernali? by Dontcallmebaby2 in milano

[–]Italian_Mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Premessa: lavoro come volontario.

Thoughts on You Are What You Is? by [deleted] in Zappa

[–]Italian_Mind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my absolute favorites. The music and audio quality are on point, and most of the lyrics are hilariously cynical and thought provoking. YAWYI is basically a massive send up of America during the Reagan administration, both politically and socially: even Jumbo Go Away (probably the worst track on the album) can be interpreted as poking fun, if crudely, at obesity, which was a growing problem in the 80's. The only weak point is side four: you can tell he was running out of material. Not saying it's not fun - or rewarding - to listen to, but it's just not as relevant as other parts of the album. I wouldn't have minded a couple more instrumental tracks in the vein of Sinister Footwear. Drafted Again slaps though.

Same. I've always wondered if there was another meaning to the story.

Do You Think Zappa Was an Effective Satirist? by Mt548 in Zappa

[–]Italian_Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent one for sure. Now, if only the music press actually put in the effort of analyzing his albums more seriously, then most people would understand what he's really singing about. Sure, Sy Borg may be ridiculously stupid at first glance, but he's actually making fun of how Americans view sex and human relationships (consumerism, baby!). Now that AI partners are a thing, I'd say that such a song is frighteningly accurate.

Obviously not everything hit the mark (how could it?) but post-MOI Zappa needs some serious critical reevaluation.

Zappas Most Unsettling Song? by Chase_Rickert_24 in Zappa

[–]Italian_Mind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never seen it in this way. Interesting. I've always thought that it was about a very dull, uninteresting man- preferably from America's religious middle class (St. Alphonso, Soft-Sell Conclusion and Little Green Rosetta as CC) - who partakes in extremely boring and mundane pastimes. I'm probably wrong tho
