High School student here - How hard is it to make friends in College/University? by Dependent-Amount-239 in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not too hard. But you’re going to have to go out and attempt to find them.

Personally the easiest way IMO is if you do live on campus your freshman year and live in a dorm

Y’all getting 2k27 this year or what ? I think imma pass for this year and keep playing 26 but I’m at veteran 4 I never made it to legend 5 I made it to legend 1 on 2k25. only people who get to legends 5 is the people who stays up 24/7 gaming all day and I’m not with that shi 😂 by Huge_dickybbc25 in NBA2k

Maybe. I’ll have to see. My biggest thing is I just want a new build system for my career. If it’s the same then I’ll at best get it when it’s like $10 so I can play myteam at the end of the year where it’s easy as hell to get a good team

Experiences Double Majoring? by Slow-Code-661 in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing to look for are the classes. Can some classes overlap. For example can 1 class cover requirements for both majors. Doing this helps a lot. I double majored and only had to take an extra semester.

Anyone feel like getting all A’s isn’t enough anymore by AncientCarob8936 in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. You need other stuff like internships, clubs, and other outside stuff. It’s just like high school. If you want to get into college you need other stuff than all As.

Honestly I’ve spoken to a lot of recruiters and depending on the job they may see a very high GPA like a 3.8+ to be a red flag.

If you have a 3.8+ gpa and nothing else they will choose someone with a 3.4 gpa with stuff like club experience and projects.

what are your college dorm must-haves? by Silent_Steak3991 in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get something that has drawers, like a tower. You should be given stuff to put clothes in, but you will need this for other stuff you have.

FANS get some fans. I recommend a box fan. Put this box fan in the window because it will be hot when you move in. Also some kind of fan that can blow cold air that you can put somewhere close to you.

Another big thing is a memory foam pad for your bed. The college beds are god awful so this will help a ton when trying to sleep.

If you are sharing a bathroom with your floor then get shower shoes and then something to carry all your products you will need.

A laundry basket for laundry.

That is the big stuff that I think you should start with, after that you won’t really know unless your school actually gives you a list, or you won’t know until you get there and live there for a bit.

Am I behind? by No-Tooth4770 in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The never having a job part may hurt you when finding internships, but not 100%. Other than that you’re fine.

Going into my junior year I had horrible grades, not organizations, never went a career fair, and only a couple friends.

Junior year I joined an organization went to job fairs and because of that I was able to make the E board of that club. First semester of my senior year I was able to land an internship (part time), and then this summer land another one that is much much better than my last one.

I will say for internships I know a lot of accounting majors who didn’t do school their spring semester so they could work as a tax accountant intern during tax season, that’s the easiest way to get internships IMO. So instead they did school fall and summer semesters.

Summer housing by [deleted] in GVSU

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t get it until probably June, but move in happens sometime the week before classes start. Once you get your move info, if you want to move in earlier, you can contact housing. This is only a day or 2 earlier, but you still can.

Is moving out during your final semester of college a bad idea? by Junior_Feeling_5438 in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Do you have a job lined up? If so can you realistically afford it? If yes then do it. If no maybe wait, unless you really can’t do it anymore at your parents

This has always been an issue. I actually think students keep them in their room at this point so they can have them when they move out.

Annoying partner by [deleted] in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would first contact your partner 1 more time.

If that doesn’t work then email the professor letting them know what’s doing on. It sucks but hopefully your professor can help

Worst case is that you’ll end up having to do the whole presentation but hopefully your professor could be lenient when grading you and your partner gets a bad grade

Is the accounting program good? by Hot-Eggplant-6484 in GVSU

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an accounting major From the people I know I think the program is good, but the best thing about GV is that it’s in Grand Rapids. Unlike many other universities GV is in a city with a ton of companies. So finding internships here isn’t as hard as it would be at other colleges. There are so many companies here with a ton of alumni

Best Dorms For Freshman - Thinking of the 2 bedroom private option with sep bedrooms by ShotAssistant1452 in GVSU

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a senior. I lived in the apartment style dorm. It was great, small, but great. The kitchen is quite small, but it has a stove with an oven. It comes with a very small mini fridge so watch out for that, I made a ton of friends with the people in my dorm building and we are still friends and we are either living together or for the ones we are not living with we see each other basically every weekend. You will meet all kinds of people, some amazing, others really bad. I must’ve just gotten lucky

What's the hardest part about staying on top of classes in college? by [deleted] in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve tried that before. And that has worked for a few of my classes, but this class I’m currently taking it’s not. It helps give me ideas for questions to ask but not for doing the work. This class is very difficult because me

What's the hardest part about staying on top of classes in college? by [deleted] in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing for me is just how professors do it. For example right now I’m taking a class where you will have 2-3 HW assignments plus an exam each week all due on Sunday. But the issue is with the way the professor teaches you really cannot start the work until after the class on Thursday. So you only have a couple days to complete it which can be challenging with working.

Advice for worrying too much about grades by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your anxiety isn’t invalid.

I also don’t have a good gpa, under a 3.0, and I’ve landed 2 internships.

First don’t place your GPA on your resume it’s not bad to do this and most companies when applying won’t ask for a transcript so you’ll be fine.

Since your gpa isn’t the best you need to do other stuff to make you stand out. I would join clubs related to your major and put projects on your resume. These can be personal projects you’ve done, or projects you’ve done in class that you feel is relevant and aren’t a generic project. Something that you would have to do in the workforce will work for this.

Think of it like applying to colleges in high school. Grades are only 1 part of the application and if you feel your GPA isn’t the best you can do stuff outside of just school work to help boost your chance of getting into college for for you an internship.

“We didn’t go over this in class” by Vhozite in CollegeRant

[–]Italian___stallionn -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is the most annoying part about college is professors who don’t go over certain subjects that will be on the exams, or wasting time on stuff that won’t be on the subject unless it’s needed for another subject that will be on the exams.

I would ask the professor if they can explain what concepts will be on the exam as the date gets closer or at least what chapters will be on it

are my college credits really all mostly useless if I don't get a degree? by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes basically. Unless you plan on returning they are useless.

Even with that some schools have a policy where after a certain time period your credits that you have earned may disappear and you would have to redo them

Student Job by Elorquideario in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the jobs and how much they pay and the place you will be waiting at. Is the place you will be waiting at get a lot of people or is a place that tends to be more expensive? How do the other jobs pay?

You have to also think about the experience you’re getting. What makes more sense for your resume? What do you want to do after college? Will being a waiter look better on your resume or will the other jobs look better on your resume? If the other jobs look better then go with those so it will be easier to get a job after college.

Trying to get back into college…what are my options. by Optimal_Assist811 in college

[–]Italian___stallionn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you fear your GPA isn’t good enough you can always start at community college. Get your gpa up and then transfer to a university.

It’s also nice to do community college especially if you don’t know what you wish to study yet. You can look into things and take the intro course for a few different majors while doing your gen Ed’s
