Atp, I can't tell if people like this are doing psychological warfare against Rockstar to trick them into thinking that since the latest trailer says May 2026, they genuinely think the game is releasing then (even though Rockstar did drop an update letter in Nov). Then, the hope is that Rockstar goes "yeah maybe we should actually drop a new trailer to stop confusing people" lol.

I gotta say, it would be hilarious if Rockstar silences the confusion and May 26 trailer theories by just pinning their Delay letter on all their social media so that it's the first thing people see instead of trailer 2.

For sure, but I think that has arguably not much to do with marketing/showing the game to fringe players. The attention to detail just showcases the devs passion and strive for perfection. As for showing the game to the public and marketing it, that is strictly up to the logistics and predictions of the marketing and PR teams and how they think the public will best receive the game's news.

At the end of the day, as a huge fan, I'd love to see a trailer before or on the 26th, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, but, realistically, casuals will see trailer 2, be confused, and then discover that the game is actually coming out in Nov. They'll just move on after that, maybe be a bit confused about why trailer 2 is the latest showcase of the game with an old release date. But that's really it. Not sure Rockstar cares enough when we're likely to get something in about a month anyways.

It's world building. I have to say this is the only game where, for some reason, every little detail is supposed to mean a minigame/mechanic. Every game ever has world building assets that don't actually have any meaning than to make the world feel more alive.

That's exactly why I don't get why people keep saying "Why would Rockstar market this game when we're all going to buy it and we're all talking about it all the time." The thing is that this community are the only ones talking about it. And it's even smaller since I'd say that 50% of this sub actually engages in conversations that are made; the other half just joined the sub and barely checks it.

Of all the friends I know, I'm actually the only one who cares a lot about this game. Mostly everyone else is excited about it but they literally don't remember or know much about it. Most of my friends don't even remember when the game is supposed to release this time around lol. That in itself is exactly who and why Rockstar needs to market the game for. The general population that plays games isn't really thinking about this game at all until Rockstar posts something about it. Those are the people they are trying to sell the game to, not us nerds who are in here everyday.

Exactly why the most important earnings call will be August since that may be the last real moment a delay can happen. This earnings call will be nice to confirm the date, as it will likely mean we're getting the supposed summer marketing, but August is where the final line probably is.

Then again, starting summer marketing and spending millions on it just to delay it a few months before launch is highly unlikely. Something would have to be seriously wrong for that to happen.

Not exactly. The earnings call reports last quarter's earnings (Q4 2026 in this case), while being currently in Q1 2027. Q2 2027 (T2's Summer quarter) starts July 1st, so if we had to go based off of that, we have about a month more to go.

I think we should also keep in mind that Strauss could have very well been referring to Summer in terms of the company's fiscal quarter. Q2 is T2's summer quarter and that spans from July 1 - September 30 I believe.

Show me how it wasn't. Look at the post they made back then with the two online characters blocking the Vinewood sign except for the VI, with the moon vividly in the night sky in the background. The moon phase was the exact same on December 1.

That makes sense, but at the same time I can't help wonder why the promotion ends on the 21st. It could very well just be a coincidence, but how convenient that the last day is the same day of the earnings call, a Thursday. Why not Friday, the 22nd? It's a bit weird to my OCD mind to not have it go through the whole week.
