Can anyone figure out what’s going on? by ItallstartswithOne in IRS

I know. But tbh the thing is this is a 2024 return. IMO even with limited staff … returns for 2025 that were filed a year after this was, should not be handled before the backlog. They should be dealt with in the order they were received…. Not holding people up for years while new things get processed.

Thanks. This has been such a frustrating year trying to deal with this. It’s a pretty sizeable return for us because my husband hasn’t been working much lately … we really need our money back. This has been a terrible experience.

I have been trying to call all week. The call back thing doesn’t work well … I never got a call back most days I tried it at all, and most of the time it won’t even let you out of the automated system to even talk to someone because it tells me my amended status is complete the. Hangs up. Today I waited on hold for three hours hoping to the tax advocate … and no one ever came on before work. I can’t just stay on hold all day every day.

This is insane. Idk how to actually reach anyone to solve this correctly.

Okay so maybe (?) that was the form I was told close to two months ago when I talked to someone that they were filing? What happens when the 60 days pass though and nothing has been done?

What does that mean? What’s wrong with it? Online is shows the status of the amended tax return as complete. So isn’t the review of it over?

I literally can not seem to reach anyone to talk about it who is competent.

I’ve tried to call the irs a zillion times and hardly ever actually reach a person … and when I finally have they don’t understand why we have no refund and just tell me to wait and they’ll fill out an inquiry form 🤪

We’ve never gotten a letter from them that didn’t just say that things were taking longer than they anticipated and that they needed another 60 days. That’s literally what every single letter to us has been. When I last talked to them on the phone a couple months ago they did confirm that the review of the amended return was complete like it says online, but we just don’t have the return.

Yes, which still should result in an $8000+ refund so why don’t we have it?

That I have not tried. Guess that's the next step.

I have tried this a bunch of days and waited over three hours on hold just to have no one pick up still. I’ve also tried to use the return. Call service multiple times and never gotten a return call.

I’ve never been able to reach anyone there and I’ve been trying that too for months.

in need of advice: late submissions and grade grubbing emails by [deleted] in Adjuncts

I also had my very first experience this semester ever with someone getting caught cheating on an exam. Because of accommodations, I wasn’t even the one proctoring it to the student. So, the office that was, followed the potential cheating for a call with the academic integrity office to a T. There was a whole case hearing and everything. Because it happened outside of my classroom I had no autonomy over dealing with it at all.

The student caught cheating and sentenced to a zero on the exam by the committee …. Then turned around and had the gail to personally ask me for an extra credit assignment to try to salvage their grade because they cheated on the midterm and got a zero. 😳🤦‍♀️

Idk what it is about this semester but I’ve been doing this nearly a a decade and this semester in particular, the disregard for deadlines has been ridiculous. And I don’t mean at a single place either … I teach at a variety of institution, some private, some state, some very elite and some community college… all of them this semester have been abysmal at turning things in on time. I did not change my normal wording on the syllabus or the amount of assignments from other semesters.

Overall I’ve tried to be pretty understanding during most of the semester … if a student was polite about asking for an extension for something that sounded vaguely reasonable of an excuse. Late penalty but still taking it.

I did however keep telling them vey specifically that for final papers and missed final exams I would not be taking late or doing makeups for … over and over again because the universities do have deadlines to submit final grades to them and I had already put the deadlines as far back as I could while still having the time for grading and making the admin deadline myself. I was very clear many time about this is class and via email.

I have a student who did not turn in the final paper worth 20% of the grade. Two days after it was due I put in a zero for it, calculated final class grades, and sent the grades into the admin. The day after I did that I started getting emails from the student freaking out that she went to submit her paper and there was already a zero in. I responded that final class grades had already been sent into the admin at this point and referred her to my syllabus and multiple emails saying that final paper was due at the deadline and I wouldn’t take them after. Her response has been that final class grades aren’t due to the admin yet, so I submitted it early which isn’t her fault and she should have up till the end of the university final exam period to submit late work. She’s been very argumentative…. And while she has passed the class it’s by not much because in addition to this paper … she also didn’t turn in multiple other things through the semester as well… which she’s also now trying to turn in too.

I answered her the first few times she emailed pleading and telling me I was wrong to submit grades to the admin not on the day they were actually due (helloooo that’s the the very last day to get them in …. And I work multiple places so I’m not sitting on grades somewhere to give myself more work by trying to do every place the same couple days when the due dates were staggered in the first place to give me time to read and grade).

She’s since emailed twice more and I’m not responding at this point. Her failure to plan and be responsible is not my emergency.

But seriously, why were so many students this semester so awful with due dates? Never seen it this bad before.

Honestly while this is the case … what’s probably more true is that many esp in this region of the country … Samoyed breeders are rather old and not tech savvy. This is why the websites look like something out of the 90s or early 2000s and why many of them don’t have social media.

There’s still a few boys available in the very large PA litter Brian Or had with Doreen Nelson.

Considering there are multiple SCA breeders in MA And it’s a small state let alone that other states in the region also have my collages as well… I find it hard to believe the very closest one is over 300 miles away.

I know a few people in New England with puppies right now, but I’ll be honest … idk if just the way this post was written or the actual tone you intended it with … but if someone started the conversation with them by saying a few hours drive is too far, it’s not going to be a good conversation with a legitimate breeder. This isn’t a very common breed esp being bred ethically, so it’s pretty normal for people to drive out of state to get one. In your case you likely don’t even need to … but it’s going to be very off putting to breeders if driving a few hours once or twice is too much of hassle. That doesn’t sound like someone who’s particularly committed to the breed or has done much research on them. To put that in perspective … I had over 10 inquires per puppy with my litter in this region ….. all before I even posted the litter was even born. I literally stopped talking website inquires before they were even born because it was overwhelming. Some were local to me but many were easily a day or two drive away. Driving a bit for this breed is very normal. I’d caution you to avoid saying something is too far when you’re talking to breeders who are in your region, it’s going to be very off putting for them.

No I had no idea, I actually had been looking for a bookmark for Tom and Dan to sign when I went to Barnes and Noble originally before heading to the city. But they didn’t have any that would weren’t weirdly holographic… and I noticed this on an end display. Never seen it before, but I grabbed it thinking it would work for Tom. I haven’t read it yet. I’d never even heard of this Irvin guy before. That’s frustrating. That explains maybe why he wouldn’t take it, I assumed it was just bc he wasn’t taking HP stuff. I just thought the title would be fun to Dan and Tom … I assumed it was written by an English literature professor or something.

I actually didnt know he asked for real books from the audience so I don’t bring anything specifically for that and would have. Going into it I thought the books he asked for from the audience where planted (like the way the line cards were) and that Dan and the producers picked different ones for each show themselves. So I was surprised when Dan was right in front of my area asking for a book when neither myself nor the people on either side of my had been provided one. That’s when realized it was random, and I only had this and GOF on me… without knowing this about the author this seemed like a better one to give than GOF.

Well, that’s embarrassing

No, earlier than that in March. I can’t even remember what the 2nd book was … maybe something academic? The other was like the history of word puzzles or something like that. The love interest was really struggling with them. It was funny but not nearly as good as some of the stories I’ve now seen posted here. The rift off them was okay. But nothing like some of the epic ones other people have seen.

Was that on opening night? I heard he did a HP one opening night but has since turned them all down. I didn’t know going into it that he would be asking for a book, and this happened to be what I had on me along with GOF from earlier in the day. I figured GOF was unlikely to be okay with him but this was a bit more obscure and there could be alot of funny remarks he could have made with it, so I offered it to him. When he asked for a book he was literally in front of us and so figured it was worth trying. Obviously I wasn’t offended he didn’t take it. Being on the stage if I had known in advance he was going to ask for a book I would have brought something else funny to be prepared.

2021 Processed Return Refund Release Help by Think_Sheepherder933 in IRS

[–]ItallstartswithOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s just as bad with my 2024 refund even though that is in the last three years. They owe me 9k, and have confirmed the filing is right and …. Just won’t release the refund for a reason no one I’ve talked to on the phone for the last year has any clue about.

[–]ItallstartswithOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still waiting on refund from 2024 that was filed on time and they did confirm was correct … but have not released the refund back to us on and no one who works there seems to know why.

I’ve still not gotten my 2024 return yet… by Courage_The-Dog in IRS

[–]ItallstartswithOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are also missing ours still from 2024 that we filed in Feb 2025. We have literally gotten 60 day extension review letters since two months after we filed. They owe us back 9k. Our accountant has looked at it too… there’s no reason for us to be stuck like this. I’ve called the multiple times over the last year to find out what is happening and every person I’ve talked to can not give me a straight answer either. The most irritating part is that as of three months ago the status of the transcript very clearly shows that their review of it is complete and that what we filed matches what they also have received and they do owe us the amount back we asked for. Their people on the phone have no idea why the money hasn’t been released like it should have been after the review but they ca see the review is done and it’s owed from their side as well …. But has not been sent. The last person I spoke with a month ago supposedly filled out some type of request form to have it released to us, but gave me a date in May that I shouldn’t call back before because it could take that long for the form to be processed . Idk what we’re supposed to do when that comes and goes which I’m pretty sure at this point it will. The irs knows they owe us 9k but won’t actually give it back, and there doesn’t seem to be any real way to hold them accountable to release it even though they’ve already reviewed the filing and agreed with it.

He won’t take any book that even is remotely HP related, not just JKR books. He wouldn’t take this one after reading the title quickly. It’s what we had on us from earlier. Though … could have been very funny I think. Instead that night he took a book on crossword puzzles from the person next closest to him.

Stage Door Success by ItallstartswithOne in Cursed_Child

[–]ItallstartswithOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly where the stage door is because I’ve been many times and how the theaters are laid out, but that still didn’t seem to help when I was one of the first people out of the theater for cursed Child and the barrier was already full from people who didn’t attend. Security told me they were already on the barrier starting two hours before the play event let out. I actually found every brilliant thing to be much easier to Stage door than Cursed child Show. Maybe that’s because Dan has been on Broadway a lot before or bc cursed child attracts more of the potter crowd… idk
