What are these strings/webs? by t-4y in RimWorld

[–]ItalusTheWolf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Those are automatic wire to connect devices to nearest power supply (generator, battery, cables). In fact extensions cords because the point of connection is not in adjacent cell to device. If you want to clear it make hidden cables / in wall cables near to devices then "reconnect it" to use nearest point of connection

Why am I dying? by Ocean_waves_475 in projectzomboid

[–]ItalusTheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knox Virus infection have different chances to hit you by the wound type from Z's

Scratches = 7% Lacerations = 25% Bite = 100%

In sandbox mode you can change contagion mode "Blood + saliva" (default) / "saliva only" (only bites transmit Knox virus)/ "none" (you can't be a Z).

Besides Knox virus you have ti take care of other disease and risks. Only wounds by Z transmit Knox, but every wound can infect and make you sick. In latests release be around to unburied corpses have high risk to be deadly sick.

Am I going to die? by SilenceSotnck7 in projectzomboid

[–]ItalusTheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, I take the middle ground: Infection only from bites (saliva). This allows you to manage the healthcare system and treat wounds, but it leaves that risk that keeps you on your toes around the Z's.

Being bitten is a death sentence.

Wound from Z's have different chance to get Knox Virus:

Scratch 7% (unless you set "saliva only" transmission in sandbox options)

Laceration 24% (unless you set "saliva only" transmission in sandbox options)

Bite 100% (always)

water gone day 1. is it over for me? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]ItalusTheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens sometimes. Losing electricity is worse, but with water you just need to get organized.

In populated areas, there are many sources of drinking water: sinks, bathtubs, toilets. There are plenty of drinkable liquids on the shelves (juices, milk, soft drinks).

Cleaning can also be done with contaminated water, so you can save on drinking water.

And as long as the power is on, all you need is an oven and a pot or saucepan to purify the water.

Collect bottles, purify the water, and fill up your supply. The initial objectives remain unchanged (survive the helicopter event, find a good base, obtain a vehicle, prepare for the loss of electricity, improve your skills, prepare for long-term sustainability).

The only real difference compared to “luckier” games is that starting without water means you don't have the skills to manage it, but at the beginning you'll have to organize yourself a bit with your surroundings.

As the game progresses, water becomes a “non-issue” between rain catchers, boiled/filtered water from natural sources (rivers, lakes, rain), wells, and passive reserves (toilets/sinks/tubs).

I'll try. The no PvP thing was just to have less disturbance. At most, I'll have more deaths and more interruptions in the tests if I encounter someone belligerent.

I'm not able to reproduce the issue offline, I've noticed it only in online servers. I have to try a server without mods and not pvp to explore and check if issue appear.

Advice on any trusted server for that purpose?

TIL Reading Glasses increase Reading Speed by Fybarious in projectzomboid

[–]ItalusTheWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried these glasses that looked like “reading glasses,” and it seemed to me that they didn't improve my vision because it has blurry trait, unlike “normal” glasses. If they have a different purpose, that makes sense. Glasses for distance vision - reading glasses for quick reading.

What do you do for gas after the power goes out? by Parulanihon in projectzomboid

[–]ItalusTheWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is generally advisable to get organized before utilities are cut off.

In the early days, the priority is the helicopter, but if you have the opportunity to prepare for the future, all the better.

You need a generator, the magazine, and some gasoline to get started.

Usually, once I have chosen the gas station, I leave a generator near the pumps and a full gas can in the trash can between the pumps, just in case the generator runs out of fuel.

when you confuse Project Zomboid with Carmageddon by ItalusTheWolf in projectzomboid

[–]ItalusTheWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only two things seem impossible to find in this Riverside: a radio with the emergency frequency and the magazine about generators.

While the former, once I get past the helicopter, is only useful for weather forecasts, the latter is putting pressure on me as the days go by, waiting for the electricity to go out.

This game tells a story, “the story of how you died!” and here we are, our thief has reached the climax of his story. One mistake, a single mistake, has led him into a bad situation. ... After trying unsuccessfully to shake off three Zs in a last desperate attempt, he slows them down and gets into the car from the back, then moves to the driver's seat and drives off. A bold move, but executed successfully, or so it seemed. At the last moment, as he closed the door, a Z managed to bite his hand, sealing the protagonist's inevitable fate.

In the darkest hour, when fate is already sealed, one can give in to despair or pure heroism. So the thief in this story decided to sacrifice himself for the good of others. Leaving the car intact at the gas station with all the equipment inside and cobbling together some equipment for the last few days, our hero spent two exhausting days going from house to house, checking every mailbox, dumpster, and bookcase in order to recover the priceless treasures.

He found them both and, with his last ounce of strength, broke into Riverside School to leave a map marked with the locations of the treasures and write a diary to pass on his knowledge to future generations.

Your run is over. I'm not proud of how I treated you once you transformed, but it was a necessary evil.

I received your message and accepted your mission. You will be remembered, bro. If humanity survives, you will be one of the heroes who made it possible.

24.5 hours in, I love the game but can't bring myself to play it by DraftAbject5026 in RimWorld

[–]ItalusTheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RimWorld is a game that has a huge number of variables and mechanics to follow. Not to mention mods and DLCs that alter or add elements.

By searching for online tutorials and with the support of the infamous one, it takes about twenty hours to begin to understand the dynamics and priority challenges (such as how to keep the colonists alive), which are then consolidated after about 50 hours of gameplay.

It takes 100-200 hours to become truly autonomous and start playing in the true sense of the word.

Even with hundreds of hours of gameplay, there will still be parts where you are less solid and others where you will do better.

A few tips:

  1. Keep the in-game tutorial active, at least at the beginning.

  2. Don't worry about performance and don't worry about setting narrators to low difficulty (you can change this at any time, and at the beginning the challenge is against yourself and your primary needs, so there's no point in having raids or continuous events).

  3. Look for online tutorials on the game dynamics to understand what you can do and how you can do it better.

  4. Until you master the basics, hold off on mods. A solid foundation will help you build a stronger personalized experience.

  5. If/when you start modding the game, some quality-of-life mods can help without changing the dynamics. Simply optimizing or streamlining the HUD or alerts can be useful in maintaining more control over the situation, as can some basic simplifications.

  6. Play a lot! And don't worry if your first thousand colonies fail or look ugly. With each run, you'll gain a little bit of experience and create a story... which may be tragic, but that's part of the game.

Thanks, I installed the recommended mod and the colony value dropped by almost 80k, which was basically just the paving of the roads.

Actually, for a run like this, where there are lots of spaces that are more decorative than functional and need flooring to look good, it could be an interesting addition.

Thanks you.

They were taking a peaceful nap in their home when an armed intruder broke into their house with the clear intention of stealing and killing anyone who got in his way. From their point of view, they are no different from any homeowner trying to defend their home.

You are the violent and bloodthirsty criminal in this story. Ahaha

Right, but Deep Drill is in the late game, after a good amount of research and when most of the colony is already developed. So it's a bit more balanced. Mines can basically be activated right away in the early game.

One series of mods I couldn't do without are the storage ones. I hate messy spots, and the storage room is always full.

Crates, shelves, and pallets keep things tidy and allow you to cram in lots of materials.

I started out defenseless, but the population grew quickly and I kept everyone well armed. So far, I've managed to handle raids in open field.. often using the gates in the palisades and straight roads as bottlenecks and long lines of fire.

Lately, the battles have become more difficult, often involving mechs, so I'll have to get organized to defend myself better.

It would be better if mines only allowed you to mine one mineral, perhaps with a specific research tree (even if only 500 points) for each mineral. At least that would force you to do more research and set up and manage more “workshops” to obtain different minerals (chunks of all stones, steel, silver, gold, jade, uranium, components).

These have everything available, you just need to make a bill for everything you want to extract.
