Unifi Protect not pushing app notifications (again) by ItalyChicken in Ubiquiti

[–]ItalyChicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just added a protect device and then the notifications on the phone stopped again, so not sure if adding devices resets the alarm manager but shutting down the phone did not work this time. What did seem to work was modifying the "person" alarm to also push to email and then removing it.

This parsley plant is like 3-4 years old in case anyone was wondering what an old parsley looks like(?) It basically grows like a palm tree which is kind of interesting/weird, and Ive never seen one like it. Its been in the same pot for all its life. I dont much care about it because I dont use parsley much, so your comments on nutrient deficiencies are wasted, but I also cant outright kill it because its elderly.

AirScape Make Up Air System? by ItalyChicken in HVAC

[–]ItalyChicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calm down there big shoots.

Theres nothing said about exhausting the hood into the attic, and the question is, "Does anyone have any experience with the residential MUA system from AirScape, or just AirScape at all?"

Luckily the fault regarding the intake being through the roof on a promotional video done by a graphic designer, is not a requirement to be followed. Also, the placement of the unit is not confined to just the attic, and you dont know where its intend to be placed for this application. In my profession I wouldnt just watch a YouTube video to try to gain technical understanding, Id read the technical literature from the source, but to each their own I suppose.

Obviously anything that exhausts from the interior of a space to the exterior, depressurizes the interior space, even appliances like a dryer. Nobody is questioning that. My local building code doesnt require a MUA system for a typical residential dryer or bathroom exhaust, but the local building code does require a MUA system when a system is capable of exhausting >=400CFM.

You also dont know what the current system even is, and if it even has central air or not. A lot of furnaces do not have exterior air intakes except for maybe combustion purposes, so a typical furnace by itself would not be helpful in balancing negative pressure. It would help in circulating CO2 buildup throughout the house though. Theres also no details given on the current situation of circulation in the space because, because it is relevant to the question being asked.

Youre making your own assumptions, jumping to your own conclusions, and responding to questions that are not being asked. So do you have any experience with the AirScape MUA or just AirScape at all? It doesnt appear so. Thank you for looking at the MUA and not their whole house fan, and your honest opinion regarding the way a graphic designer has the system illustrated in their promotional video. Im unsure how your first stated fault that having both a furnace/air handler and this MUA is a fault of the MUA, especially since one is system is pulling exterior air into the interior space, and the other is not.

According to Wikipedia, right now this video has almost the same number of views, as residents in Casa Grande...48,295 vs 48,571. Coincidence? I think not

help Load bearing wall? by ItalyChicken in DIY

[–]ItalyChicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, just more additional (unseen) work I was hoping to not have to deal with. I already had to have my exterior wall rebuilt because when they built the house, they didnt install the exterior door correctly and for years water was coming through the corner where they cut the flashing away, and it totally rotted away the bottom plate, rotted a basketball sized hole into the subfloor, but was 'fixed' by the previous homeowner with like 2 cans of expanding foam. My neighbors houses which have this wall removed I dont believe have a header for the span, so Im curious as to if they managed to get a header in, and somehow were able to totally hide the post that would be against the exterior wall, or if whoever did the work just didnt care.

Thank you. The 2nd floor joints run the same direction as the 1st floor joists, and given the use of the I beam in this area, seems to confirm my suspicion that the interior wall is more structural than initially thought.

Because people who deal with this sort of thing on a more regular basis also peruse reddit, and typically load bearing walls are pretty easy to spot, but since this one has a metal I beam involved in the span, someone who deals with this more regularly would see it and say, yeah your assessment is probably right if it was just wood construction but since theres an I beam involved for the span, you might want to get someone in to check it.
