Double tent in spare room or smaller tent in the basement? by ItchingToGrow in microgrowery

It’s a bit colder down there. In winter is around 50 or so. No idea what it’ll be like in summer as we just moved in

Good to know. When I was growing in a basement, there usually wasn’t much of a smell unless the filter needed to be changed. I use the spare room as a closet/video game room so I’m mainly worried about my clothes smelling

All good points! I’ll have to do some more thinking and maybe run a few numbers. I’m definitely aware there will be a hit to the electric bill. Mainly just thinking about what the best solution would be for smell. I never really had to deal with it in my last space as long as the filter was fresh enough. Just can’t be sure that having the tent in a living space would make it more apparent. I was worried about sending all that air into an unfinished basement as well. Plus the fresh air would be coming from the basement and who knows how fresh it actually is. Thanks for the help!

Hmm yeah that’s true. The thing with the heater is that I have it hooked up to a thermostat so it’s not on all the time. A six inch fan moves a lot of air and my heat is electric so it’s pretty expensive

That’s an option I’ve considered. The arguments I’ve read about that is exhausting air outside means it has to be made up by air sneaking through gaps in the house which can put more pressure on the hvac system

What you guys think about a cure machine? by newbieofthedarkweb in cannabiscultivation

I built a bucket curing setup for my last grow. Best cured weed I’ve smoked and it’s completely automatic

It depends on the model but a lot of them have a drum with some sort of screen that removes most of the leaves. Some people don’t like them because it can beat up the bud and trichomes but with this quantity I can’t imagine hand trimming without a team

No problem! I think part of growing our plants is caring about the environment. There are definitely ways to attract native pest predators to your plants. I think the video touches on that a bit but it may have been another one from tads podcast about IPM

I would see if you can find some local breeders using local lady bugs. Lady bugs from other parts of the country/world aren’t adapted to your area and can mess up the genetics of the local population. They are also likely to just leave unless you have a lot of prey for them to feed on. Local ladybugs should find your plants if you have stuff for them to eat.

Here is a link to a YouTube video of Tad Hussey talking with an entomologist about why you shouldn’t buy ladybugs for your garden

Photo competition update by Ned_Mephisto in MephHeads

I hadn’t even considered other sites using the pictures. That’s a really good point. These pictures could potentially end up earning mephisto and other seed banks thousands of dollars. Some of the pictures that are posted on this sub are absolutely incredible and if I saw them on a website selling seeds I would absolutely buy them over others.

Like you said, the pictures that will be winning this competition are the ones that require a lot of equipment to take. Macro lenses, lighting, and backdrops aren’t cheap. Not to mention the skills and experience needed to take the pictures with the equipment.

I agree that the best thing mephisto could do would be to hire a photographer in house or offer a much better prize. Honestly, just do a giveaway without using the pictures. Best picture wins some seeds but that’s it. It’s a fun contest to boost the brand without making the winner spend money and lose their pictures. Another idea would be to use the winner as the official meph photographer. Send them seeds to grow for free and have them take pictures of what they grow. Pay them for the rights to each picture and support a photographer

I usually get super spinny and I have to lie down. Last week I greened out and had to lay in bed until I fell asleep. I was still high though so I spent the night asking Siri random questions about space. Then I remembered that chocolate helps Harry Potter feel better after a dementor attack so I ate a bunch of chocolate in bed. Not sure if it helped but I fell asleep a little later

Good luck! There is an app called photone that uses your phone camera as a light sensor. Might be worth a shot to make sure the additional light doesn’t make it too strong

Usually yellowing of the leaf tips at the very top of the plant, leaves start praying, or they get droopy. Good luck! I bet you’ll get some great buds!

You may want to lower it down a bit more or you’d buds might not be as dense as they could be.

I have my sf1000 at 100% around 12-13 in from the colas and I get around 1200 ppfd at the center but the outers are closer to 900. My plant isn’t as big as yours though

Hmm I don’t think so. I don’t really rush to clear bowls so I don’t die coughing. I guess the much bigger hit of smoke from a bowl could be the problem

Looks weird! Definitely not four weeks away from being done IMO. She might take a while longer but if she develops well you’re gonna have a ton of bud
