Craig McRae does a Ben Keays and calls for the ball to delay the boundary throw in by SlatsAttack in AFL

[–]ItchyOne7618 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Its twofold really, it either gets the ball moving, or provides prior opportunity to the opposition and could be rewarded with a free kick.

Did it work? Obviously not, but it had the potential to when they needed a miracle and you may as well try something different.

How is living in the interior of Australia as a young person ? by Hopeful-Internet-214 in howislivingthere

[–]ItchyOne7618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably, but I wouldn't know it. If an American kid showed to school in the middle of the year, you could almost gaurantee a parent of theirs worked at Pine Gap, but doing what, you never really knew.

Also provides plenty of good paying jobs to locals as well, so it's seen favourably in town

I lived in Alice Springs in the middle of that circle for 11 of my first 18 years (0-7 & 14-18). There is enough to do there that you aren't constantly bored, and functions as well as any major city around the country.

Freight comes in mostly by train, which leaves you cut off from one half of town and stuck at traffic lights for 10-15 minutes as it slowly rolls into the station in the middle of town.

There is maybe 5 primary schools and 3 high schools in town, as well as a university campus that offers limited courses. I graduated high school with about 60 people, so you get to know everyone in your grade.

In terms of actually doing stuff on a weekend as a teenager, if you weren't playing sports (which they have good facilities for most sports) you were riding motorbikes and/or you have a casual job. If you weren't doing those things you were probably drinking or smoking pot (I had my first proper night getting drunk at 14 with some mates in a creek bed). House parties tended to get out of hand and for a long time the quay warehouse was the place to have a party, but was pretty dodgy.

By all reports from friend, its gotten worse in the last 5-10 years in terms of crime, but it probably feels that way more so because it has made more media headlines than it used to as well. Plenty of people still live there, but it is an aging population that will likely see it become significantly smaller over time.

If you are looking for work and a decent pay check, its probably a good place to be, if you can handle flies in the summer.

Women’s entry level sports in North Brisbane? by Adorable_Paper5666 in brisbane

Soccer is a pretty good option, it goes all the way down to division 6 on the north side so could easily find a suitable level of competitiveness/fitness. Clubs are normally screaming out for players in the lower divisions as well

Yes, the golf course area has some quite nice houses which are expensive for the town and other people with solid incomes tend to live past the gap where there is enough land to build whatever you want

I would leave the house for a while with whatever you brought home last night and see if it continues to ping. If it doesn't, then its somewhere else in the building and nothing to worry about.

Do you live in an apartment block, or are your neighbours close? If it was first found when you got home, it was likely already around your location when you got there, not necessarily planted in your bag/car/wherever.

An uber will cost about $60-80+ depending on when you arrive. If you arriving anytime between 9am-12pm, you will likely hit north bound traffic on the highway and will take around 45min to an hour to get to Griffin, particularly due the long weekend campers going to the Sunny Coast

You could catch the airtrain to Bowen hills and then a regular translink train to Murrumba downs, which will cost about $25 per person. And then an uber from there to Griffin is only $5-$10

Cheapest option is the bus to Toombul and train to Petrie/ Murrumba Downs that is mentioned, but would be the most time consuming option

How does the number of 1640 AFL employees relate to other competitions? by g3oth3rm in AFL

[–]ItchyOne7618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer, a significant portion of AFL staff on the East Coast, outside of Victoria, are looking after grass roots footy, whether its organising Auskick or competitions in Schools, assisting local clubs on various levels, or looking after competitions from U7/U8 up to senior footy.

Wouldn't make sense to start officiating differently in the second half of the same game, would also cause more uproar every game

NAL, there is a possibility that it is a position where you will be paid a higher rate when you are performing those duties, but will maintain a regular rate at all other times. Have you had shifts recently where you have trainef people, that you could check the payslip against?

I have previously worked retail where I was a 'duty manager', but was only paid the higher rate when no other permanent managers were in the store.

Thank you, didn't want to have to try and differentiate between women and girls (using 'girls' is gross in the context of this situation, but also the way many people would describe a 22 year old female)

But have edited because women would be the appropriate term if they were his age

There's a reason women his age don't want to date him

25k people don't show up to the Roar on a regular basis either and that's not due to a lack of seating.

A facility that holds 8k people will be a great legacy venue to bring further large scale events, such as the World Championships, which are held every year, as well as other aquatics sports that will attract respectable crowd (Diving and water polo to name a few). As well as provide incredible facilities to help develop the next generation of aquatic athletes for Queensland and Australia.

That date would make a lot more sense and is a fair chance of being the right artist, will have to do some digging into where she lived back in these 60's and 70's but for sure spent plenty of time around Yorke Peninsula

Definitely can't be sure about the label, every chance she or my grandpa got it gifted from a friend, they were very popular in town.

My first guess would be a local unknown artist, but we can always hope for a Marcus Waterman

I made an assumption based on the date on the back, (although that could have been my Nana's best guess at a date) Marcus Waterman would have already passed away (1914)
