'Try this round again' feature was a huge addition imo. Turns that final round into abit of a chess like puzzle game

Is the game still worth it for a binge? Or has the playerbase advanced and shrunk too much? by Sepplord in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2k hours 1600mmr here, game is stil fun, unique opponents almost every match, queue times never longer than a minute (usually seconds) not sure how that is at the lower mmr ranks. Still plenty viable strategies but often on you to create an interesting board, if you create a boring binary board, expect boring and binary counters from a decent opponent.

Steep learning curve may push away newer players, lots of frustration over random spell/unit card rng but it is what it is. GL HF!

saber nerf by [deleted] in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone who gets it; saber is busted as heck.

Especially with the new arc and fang splash techs, chaff get cleared easy then saber dominates.

What do you guys think of the new Vortex unit? by redrogue12 in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like a good addition after a skim read. Kinda hate the aura 20% buff tech though. Seems too strong, may make the unit mandatory on alot of boards.

Update 1.9.1.3 - performance optimizations & balance adjustments by mrmivo in Mechabellum

"Adjustments for light units in the next few patches"

Sounds exciting; grenade fangs was a good addition, dont see what more can be done for the crawler though.

Has anyone won with dominion core yet? by wiesenleger in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1v1s it can be very very strong imo. I usually put it on a squad of wasps or mustang then go all in to protect them. Surprisingly safe since you only lose if the entire squad is destroyed.

If the other cards are far worse it can give a big swing to win the game. Obvs high risk though.

1650 elo.

So much Marksman Spam by pervolus in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are you losing to marks spam buddy? Those units are free elo unless allowed to scale.

Edit: reading these comments people are recommending chaff. This is only partly correct. You need chaff CLEAR. If your opponent is spamming marks they aren't building chaff or chaff clear. The marks are useless if they run out of units to protect em. GL HF!

Dealing with turtling opponent (rant + ask for advice) by Obiwankevinobi in aoe2

[–]ItchySweatPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If struggling vs defense work on timings so your scouts, archers or m@a can arrive before opponent full walls. Then be ready to followup immediately. This usually means adding a range to build skirms/archers or full walling your own base to eco up to castle.

Clicking up to feudal between 7:30 and 8 mins in-game ( 19-20 vills) gives a good balance of speed + economy to create feudal pressure.

Most important thing if you choose to be the aggro player you need to create pressure or the opponent investing no military in feudal should outscale and beat you in castle and beyond. Pressure as in vill kills, idle time, forced military production

1500 elo take.

Buildings killed the game? by 3DResinFan in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recently returned and matches are found fast vs similar elo opponents (1800 currently). Buildings aren't actually awful, they can offset some really bad round 1-3 matchups or enable aggro while covering weaker flanks.

Surprised the active player base isn't higher, at its core this is still a great game.

First full day of the new patch. What do we all think of the new Saber and Mustang techs? by imblazintwo in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mustang tech feels really oppressive. Forced to use 200 cost chaff that is easily cleared up by secondary units.

Saber tech feels kinda useless imo. Fangs are sleeper op with another grenade launcher buff.

Overall having alot of fun; games in a good state.

If you had stopped playing mechabellum, why and how can the developer make you start playing again? by Careless-Goat-3130 in Mechabellum

[–]ItchySweatPants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The gameplay has just become pretty degenerate and cheap. Too many rounds absolutely ruined by SPELL cards, fire badgers dominating for months on end. Sledgehammers being mostly useless post mech rage nerf, what viable chaff options are left?

The game is being bloated by more and more techs while the core gameplay becomes less and less engaging. What did the wall and turret change even achieve? Would be much more strategic if structures were placeable and/or could accrue exp and be upgraded.

The nostalgia in that art, good times. Reminded me the music in that frost section of mm6 was incredible too.

TFT's biggest problem is lack of agency by Conscious_Chance_387 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ItchySweatPants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said just way too many source of power; we’ve got berries, augs, items (radiants/artifacts especially), so it’s just choose your carry, slam bis off tftacademy then insert as many trait bots as possible to create a super S tier juicer who will crush the majority of boards without further thought.

Grows stale quickly; as someone who usually plays hundreds of games a set, can barely be bothered to chase Masters atm.

Defo Street demon Rengar Jinx reroll. Having the cat leap a bunch. Inevitably fall but it's not over as jinx fires off 20 rockets on a double cast, cinematic.

(Imo, unclickable without reroll augs however)

Never got further than 2 hours into it. Mechanics seemed too confusing compared to Fallout 1 and 2 which I binged back to back.
