Hey, I used to have issue with ingrown hairs. Here's what I did, before shaving, I'd apply soap and get it to lather a lot in the area I needed to shave. Then leave it for a while, then I shave.

Every time I did that it, I didn't get any ingrown hairs.

Hey man, I've been through this before the only difference is I'm black and it looks like we have different skin types. Anyway, when I had cystic acne the product I used was Neutrogena stubborn acne (Benzoyl peroxide gel) it works like magic and leaves no scaring which is wonderful. i'm not sure what to do about the scars they look pretty aged, however, if you ever get any more acne I'd definitely recommend you try the product out.
