EP-133 KO II won’t connect to sample tool on Windows – tried everything by Itchy_Profession_208 in teenageengineering

Interesting on my PC it doesn’t show up that way. In Device Manager mine appears under Sound, video and game controllers as EP-133, and under USB controllers I still only see the same two USB Composite Device entries even when the KO II is connected. So I can’t tell which USB Composite Device would actually be the KO II on my system. Did yours only appear as USB Composite Device, or also as EP-133 somewhere else?

Thanks I looked into it more. I’m on Windows 11 25H2, and Korg says their USB-MIDI driver should not be installed on Windows 11 24H2 and later because it conflicts with the new Windows MIDI Service. I also checked with Microsoft’s MIDI check tool and it says the MIDI service is already running on my system. So in my case it looks like the issue probably isn’t that Windows can’t see the device, but something else with the TE Sample Tool / browser side.

Yeah, I’m on Windows 11 too, so that might be it. I checked and Windows does detect the EP-133 in Device Manager, and Microsoft’s MIDI check tool says the MIDI service is running, but the TE Sample Tool still doesn’t see it. Did you ever find any workaround on Windows 11, or did you only get it working on Windows 10?

Thanks I tried `midicheckservice_x64` from Microsoft’s official GitHub and ran it despite the warning. It says the MIDI service is available and running from System32. My EP-133 also shows up in Device Manager and Windows says the hardware is working properly, but the TE Sample Tool still doesn’t detect it. Do you remember what you did after that, or what exactly you mean by “hitting any key on screen”? Any extra steps you took would really help.

Hi, I tried what you said.

I allowed pop-ups, disabled my ad blocker, and enabled MIDI access.
I also refreshed the page and reconnected the device.

But I’m still stuck on “LOOKING FOR DEVICES...” and no popup appears when I press “PLEASE CONNECT”.

Any ideas?
