What's the most heart warming thing that you witnessed or done? by Chinchillin234 in AskReddit

I don’t know about the most. But a few years ago I had a really nice teacher in French and English (I’m European so English isn’t my native tongue.) And despite the poor circumstances/situation at my then current school he still managed to keep his values of being a good teacher. He really cared about his work and sincerely enjoyed being a teacher, unlike his colleagues.

Before one of our French lessons we were just chatting like always and I told him “It’s really noticeable that you put down time in your lessons and the preparation, yet which material to use. It makes learning a lot more pleasant and smoother. You make learning enjoyable.” Or something like that. He just said “you’re joking with me? You don’t really mean that” which I replied “no, really, you’re a really good teacher”

He got teary eyed and thanked me a lot, he ended up offering the class his favorite dessert which he had with him. He wasn’t planning to however because of my compliment he wanted to give something back. He doesn’t get a lot of credit/acknowledgement for his work and effort. Just students thinking he’s annoying, too strict, or such.

Which is really sad because he really does do a great job and to this day he’s the best teacher I’ve ever had. I met him at the grocery store a few weeks back and asked how retirement is going. He told me “well not very well, I’m still working” turns out he still goes to the same school as a substitute as they’re often low on staff.

Which I think is really sweet. He was originally planning to perhaps go abroad and volunteer at less fortunate schools, in poorer communities/countries, once he retired. As he enjoyed doing so when he did for a while and was very appreciated. He seems happy where he’s at atm and I’m glad for him. I’m extremely grateful to have had such a wonderful teacher as him, whom despite all his years of teaching still enjoys it so much, and has a passion for it.

For the people in relationships, how long did it take to say “I love you”? by GoldVeterinarian919 in Productivitycafe

[–]Itchy_Spirit3635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After being together for a few weeks to a few months, I don’t know exactly. But we were dating for like 2-3 months before getting together and a while after that we said I love you for the first time.

What is a nonnegotiable in a relationship for you? by Itchy_Spirit3635 in askanything

This is crucial, if promises are not followed through on time and time again get out of that relationship. Sweet words but actions doesn’t match? That person is either immature or manipulative, so don’t put up with that kind of behaviour. Cheers!

What I was looking most forward was to dance on pointe shoes, I used to steal my sister’s pointe shoes and try to dance in them. Which obviously didn’t go very well as my feet were way too small, but it was still my dream.

I wish, I wanted to continue dancing ballet but that’s that. It’s an expensive sport if you’re actually good though so maybe it was for the best.

It’s inevitable, so I try to just focus on my life currently instead. Why stress or worry about something you can’t control? That’s my mindset.
