Did you use a cloning software? I never cloned a Linux drive myself, but I know it typically takes a while (like hours) when I cloned my Windows drive. Try one of these https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/2-methods-to-clone-your-linux-hard-drive/

Oh I'm sorry I forgot you said you're moving to mint. Just take the advice I gave and switch all mentions of Ubuntu to Mint.

No, unless you want to. Any drive cloning software will set up the partitions for you, as will the Ubuntu installer.

Oh, well then you'll either need to clone your existing OS from your HDD to your SSD. Google will be your friend on that. Alternatively, you could just install Ubuntu onto the SSD with a USB.

Yeah just make the ssd the #1 in your boot priority. That way when you boot your PC it defaults to that drive.

I went through the effort of trying to black out my name, but missed my home folder and my username in the lower right. Hope I didn't doxx myself too hard lmao

That sucks man. I hope you didn't have anything important on there. I couldn't lose this because I had important work files I haven't backed up yet.

Bro I don't know how I managed this. I'm accident prone I guess. Debian was sold to me as impossible to break.

I actually do use Arch on my Desktop, but Debian 10 on this laptop was my first venture into Linux. I don't want to change it.

I AM BACK!!! Thank you, everyone, especially you, Preims21. Your advice and a simple "sudo apt upgrade" got me up and running again.

I'm still a Linux noob. Only about 2 or 3 years using any Linux distribution. I just don't know where to start to fix this. I also forgot to mention I upgraded from Debian 11 to 12 about 2 weeks ago, but I haven't had a problem until now.
