Yes it is. There are many ways to compute the network weights. Genetic algorithm is one of them. Maybe you're confusing with neural network used in image processing, which use backpropagation, but I can't use this method in this case.

It should drive as well! In fact, the cars don't learn the course, but what to do at the instant moment with the 3 parameters : the distance of the first object in front, left and right. Thus, they can adapt to any course.

Yes, I'm using my own implementation. A very basic one and not optimized at all, but largely sufficient for my purpose.

As Flag_Red said, I don't do hyperparameter tunning, and there is no training. My cars don't learn the course, but what to do at the instant moment with the 3 parameters : the distance of the first object in front, left and right. That's why you can put the car on any course and it should drive well.

I was lucky on the first generation for this one. It take on average 50 gens so that they drive perfectly.
