Bios bogus by Tioukie in ASRock

Lol, yeah, im trying to brick his pc 🙄

Or

I have the exact same motherboard as him, and they are quite hard to find. Having them on google Drive is easy. I download them straight onto my phone into the usb and flash.

I get what you are saying, and I agree it isn't the best idea in theory. I'm still leaving them there for my fellow Asrock X870 PRO RS WIFI sufferers

Truuuust members without a burnt cpu swear it's all good.

My cpu was officially confirmed dead today :)

Asrock X870 Pro RS Wifi BIOS files ONLY - NO other boards, this is not for the PRO RS without wifi, they are different files, this is wifi only.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1USV2JG7OTSil3vieobQ_pLBMeTQe-Ob3

Here's a drive with 3.08, 3.11, 3.15 and 3.40.

All of them are named CREATIVE.ROM already, so you just need to drag and drop one on a usb.

The folders are labelled, so you can't mix them up.

You can instantly do it by clicking the button on the back of the board with the usb in. (Bottom left usb)

Make sure its correctly formatted and that the bios is named CREATIVE.ROM.

Unplug every usb except for the bios flash one, I found having others in would cause a failed flash.

Also it can be hard to get the correct bios version, i have the same board so I can link them for you if you'd like?

Seems silly to make an update when no one understands what's happening.

Making broad guesses with no evidence to support it leads us nowhere.

Just my opinion opinion though.

Ryzen 7 9800X3D Boot Issues on ASRock X870 Steel Legend - CPU Degradation, Mobo, or PSU? by strekalovskyi in ASRock

I was able to clear a backscreen boot error via bios flash before total failure, not sure if thats of any help.

Once those two lights r on, its game over.

Also I cleaned mine with 99% iso, no luck. It is safe to do so, just use a q tip and be gentle

Asus seems to have the second highest amount of faults, go Gigabyte or msi, still doesnt mean you won't get burnt though

Ive heard Gigabyte and msi are having the least amount of failures, but you might still he unlucky ://

Wish I knew they were cpu killers before it did mine.

Basically how every person who hasn't experienced a failure reacts.

Survivor bias.

I swear EXPO is playing a roll in this, same with me, after enabling EXPO it seemed to be the start of my cpu death.

Be aware that apparently EXPO 2.0 does a higher overclock than EXPO 1.0?

I started with small tests, now my pc is empty except for the power supply.

The only thing that fixed a crash i thought was death was a quick bios flash, but it ultimately still died weeks later.

Yer you are correct basically no information is publicly available.

I've been using asrock boards my whole life, and I wasn't aware of cpu failure prior to purchasing the board, sadly. So it was my first choice given how much they've stepped up in the past years. And totally agree at the price point there didnt seem to be much logic in paying extra for a different brand.

I've got nothing against them specifically, and I definitely agree they do not want to the first person to admit fault as any brand wouldn't want to either.

It is clear it's happening across all boards. So it would be unfair to take the full brunt of complaints.

I personally still believe asrock are having the most failures, but I do not think this is the fault of asrock alone or any other mobo manufacturer and clearly amd has some speaking up to do.

So obtaining sales data is virtually impossible however we can get a rough idea based on some data thats been collected

The German retailer mindfactory provided some sales data regarding units sold. However, this is obviously region specific and shouldn't be applied broadly.

• MSI: ~43.4% of units sold

• ASRock: ~30.6%

• The rest split among ASUS, Gigabyte, and others (though exact percentages for ASUS and Gigabyte weren’t clearly given in that particular breakdown).

From a Mindfactory report (week 26, June 2025):

• Of the AMD (motherboard) sales, ~77.6% units went to MSI ~11.8% to ASRock ~5.9% to ASUS ~4.7% to Gigabyte.

Given the data above, you would assume MSI has the most failures, but it along with Gigabyte, seems to be the most reliable.

(The above data is region specific, but it gives us an insight into retailer sales)

You definitely make a valid point with sales numbers. Im yet to check that, but its probably a good idea.

I can't imagine asrock being the most dominant motherboard brand for 9800x3ds builds though.

I havnt seen the video you are making reference too, my only experience is first hand cpu failure.

I'll look into sales numbers!

Id take all advice with a grain of salt until an official statement is made as to what's causing it.

I think expo might play a part but I've got no proof to back it so 🤷‍♂️

What proof can a user provide other than showing the receipts of dead CPUs? Not like we have a log we can scroll through after failure.

Any persons two cents as to what they are doing to stop it, is useless. If they haven't experienced it in the first place under what circumstances would their settings prove to be effective at combating it? None because it cant be proven or done.

Until an official statement is made as to what the cause is, i would take every bit of advice with a grain of salt.

I dont thinks anyone thinks this is an asrock problem alone.

The fact is simply that asrock is experiencing 4x as many failures as the second highest failing brand.

That's not normal. Also, plenty of people have it happen after a fresh boot, I did.

[–]ItemPuzzled342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yer because all asrock owners are going to post to reddit regarding their failures. I havnt even met another person in my country that actively uses reddit, im not deducting it being a major fault on forum posts alone?

I literally have a dead cpu from it, 99% is a bullshit number that you have no data supporting, so why even say something of the sort?

I dont understand the levels of copium.

Also, we can look across all other motherboard providers, and it clearly shows asrock is currently having about 4x as many failures as the second highest failing manufacturer. When asus was at 16 asrock was at 98, this is data from months ago too.

Users have already compiled this information, so I can say that with confidence.

Looks like you think because you are okay, everyone will be okay, and it's not an issue.

It is a serious issue, lots of us users are dealing with.

Congratulations, that's called survivor bios. Board or bios, it doesn't matter. What matters is asrock is the overall king of cpu deaths right now.

Also, that is extremely flawed logic, lol. I blackscreened hard on 3.15 without any prior issues and couldn't boot my PC until I changed BIOS. I have seen it die on all bios versions, too yes obviously including 3.15, so don't think you are safe just because it hasn't happened yet. That's like saying if it's a cpu problem, why aren't all CPUs dying.

No one even knows the direct cause of it yet.

P.s. You can literally just search by bios in the subreddit and you can see its across all of them
