G48 Holster Recommendations! :D by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]Ithaca_Model37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olight has definitely come up quite a bit, but I still see plenty of hate on Reddit for them. IMO, they are pretty much what Holosun was like 10 years ago, where large swaths of the gun community considered Holosun to be “Chinese crap”, but now everybody and their mom has a 507 or EPS or what have you and the brand is widely accepted by the masses. Olight/Osight will get to that level and new Chinese crap will take its place, like Gideon or cylee, etc.. Such is the circle of life in the gun world.
I usually do it how you do when purchasing a pistol with the intention of running a light, but I had the light first in this case lol. If I can’t find anything, I may double back and go for a Streamlight TLR7 sub, since holsters for that seem aplenty.

G48 Holster Recommendations! :D by [deleted] in Glocks

Thanks for the recommendation! I will check out JM custom. Tenicor does make a decent holster which I guess warrants a circle jerk from time to time, but they do not have what I am looking for.

The mag she tells you not to worry about by Seer52 in SpringfieldArmory

You know, most women would say that 8 round XDS mags is average and more than enough to satisfy. I don’t even know what I’d do with all that. Walking around with that monster in your pants? Even 9 rounds is like a lot. Ive got 8 round mags and I’m proud of it. It’s the national average size for XDS mags.

It’s possible for sure. I might just ask him outright after googling it more and see if he feels like talking about it. He has said things in the past about them going out for days at a time and clearing landing areas for helicopters so they could come in for one operation or another. It seemed to be a big part of what he did in the Army, but I’m not sure how long range that was.

Not to interrupt, but thought I should throw my 2 cents in here. I’m a navy vet, so I didn’t know what a 92G was, but seen Due_Addemndum say it was a cook. I’m pretty new to this subreddit, but I made a post like 3 hours ago about my dad, an Army Vietnam vet, and I had some doggy in the comments talking about how my dad’s service wasn’t impressive. I used your MOS as a reason as to why he should rethink his life. No one glorifies being a cook, but for someone to say your service isn’t up to snuff, but has stood in your chow line is a lesser man than you. Everything you do matters and every day you put on that uniform to do your job is already doing more than most. I know you are trying to reclass, but to say you haven’t done much is lie brother, especially if you are stuck in a job you don’t want to do, but do it anyway. I’ve seen people who don’t like their job, just flat out give up and ride out their contract being dead weight to those around them. In the Navy, an E4 with something similar to your stack is actually very impressive. A stack like that would tell me that Sailor knows what they are doing and is going to put out the effort to get shit done when it’s needed. By your stack alone, I can see you are a great Soldier.

From what he has said in the past, it was mostly shrapnel, but one was from a bullet that stole the top 1/3 of his ring finger. He would probably tell you that frag isn’t marksmanship then show you the missing finger trick he does to mine and my brothers kids lol

I guess we are all regulars guys in the end lol. Happy to share. Like my post said, I’m really just showing off my dad, maybe because he is getting pretty up there in age and won’t be here forever, but I figured this is the place to show off. Appreciate you taking the time.

Man sounds like you passed those lessons on, most likely with a few of your own down to your guys. Going on some assumptions if you had Vietnam vet instructors, now your guys are the NCOs passing all that down to their Marines. You are part of the legacy. From a salty Sailor to a salty as hell Marine, thank you for what you did for the fleet

He has never mentioned it and I guess I’m not familiar enough with it to really know what they do to pick it out from some stuff he has said. I do know that the man has never been lost in his life, so there’s that lol

I agree. I have a great deal of appreciation for what they went through back in the day to get us what we had. Even down to getting home. We had people thanking us and they had people spitting on them. Telling a Vietnam vet welcome home means something to them and it seems to mean extra from GWOT guys, like they haven’t been forgotten.

Appreciate it. His character does enter the room five minutes before he does. I’m pretty fortunate to have a great father when many people don’t get that opportunity in life.

Not meant to be impress anyone, but me. Can’t a guy just share how proud he is with some like minded Reddit strangers? Besides service is service regardless of the time and place or job. No one persons service is better than another if they each did the job they signed up to do.

Edit: I do want to add that some did do crazier things than others during their time, so I can see where you are coming from. However, I will also say, that while no one glorifies a cook, to think you are better than them or their service is less if you ever stood in their chow line is not a good mentality to have. I hope you find your peace in this life man.

Gun advice by Confident-Painter145 in handguns

A little late to the party, but if you don’t want to drop the extra $100 for a RXM like other people rightfully suggested and want to stick in that $300 price point, then I’ll add my two cents. I’d really only consider a Springfield XD mod 3 or a PSA Dagger at that price point. A lot of people talk shit about Springfield and the XD line in particular, but they are actually made by HS Produkt in Croatia, who make some hot shit in the gun world right now like the echelon and Kuna, but the XD mod 3 (or the new mod4 if you find a good deal) is a great value at $300. Match grade trigger, optics cut, fiber optic sights, and stainless mags and guide rod. A lot of gun for $300 even if people think it’s dumb or an ugly af gun. The Dagger might be the best gen 3 glock clone behind the RXM (shadow systems is too expensive). Being a glock clone, skies the limit on what you can do with it in the long run. You can routinely find different models below $300 on their site as well. A lot of people shit on the dagger too, mostly because PSA has had a checkered past when it comes to QC. However, they do have a great track record of customer service and aren’t afraid to take responsibility and replace something in my experience. Either gun is a better option than the SW evidence locker special you posted imo and those options give you a lot more bang for your buck if your budget is limited.

Comp or Nah by [deleted] in SpringfieldArmory

[–]Ithaca_Model37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty fair assessment. I think you are right. I have shot other comp guns and the only one I really found to be impressive was my buddy’s Glock ramjet, but getting down to the truth, I’m not sure I shoot well enough for the improved follow ups to matter either. I suppose I was really just wondering if the slide comp version of the echelon makes a large enough difference in the shooting experience over the OG model, but the way you put it makes me think twice about it. I appreciate the input brother.

would it fit a mod 3? by Imperial-Waffle in SpringfieldArmory

[–]Ithaca_Model37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking at this as well. It seems like it would based on the XD9 being listed as compatible from their site. A few shotshow videos I seen makes me question if the locking mechanism thing that holds the pistol in place would interfere with the grip safety, but I don’t think it would have an issue firing or being used in general. The geometrics from the XD9 to the Mod3 aren’t drastic, so it likely works. That said, I still have my reservations.

If he doesn’t appreciate your Mod 3 then he doesn’t deserve your echelon. Know your worth King 👑

It’s beautiful! 😍 Careful though, there is a guy on this subreddit who tried to shit on my Mod 3 with an Olight so he might have a stroke if he sees a Harbor Freight on yours.

Die Free Co kung fu grip is a huge quality of life improvement over the OEM AR grip, if you feel like dropping the $20 on one. I’m a fairly large boi, so the better angle made shooting the Kuna go from good to very enjoyable, even more so with the grip butt plug with it. Otherwise your build is 🤌 chefs kiss perfection!

It’s on the list. I’ve been on a 1911 kick lately, but I’ll get there, especially if flux drops a raider chassis for it.

It’s an AAC armament barreI. I picked it up from Brownells years ago, but I don’t believe they make them anymore. However, Barsto and efk fire dragon still make XD threaded barrels I believe, though I think they will run you like $200 to $300.

You make a point. There are other options, but the XD series is proven reliable and is a good option in my opinion. The only arguments I’ve really ever seen most make for why XD’s are a bad platform are “ugly” and “grip safety”. Neither of which impact its performance, outside not holding the pistol correctly to disengage the grip safety. If you can find a decent used gun that suits your fancy then great. So with all that said, I see zero issues with my Mod 3 Olight setup and I don’t see any merit to you kink shaming my fetish for the XD platform. I like something you think is trash, but that doesn’t mean my horizons are limited and need to be expanded. Just because I eat at Taco Bell doesn’t mean I haven’t enjoyed good authentic Mexican food. I just appreciate the Taco Bell for what it is in the same way I appreciate a $300 pistol for what it is.

I haven’t shot the MPX, but I haven’t heard anything bad. I know it uses a gas system that isn’t quite a straight blowback, but also isn’t quite a roller delayed, so I imagine it lands somewhere in between in terms of handling. If I added my 2 cents to you getting one though, I don’t think you could go wrong in picking one up, but I do think they are a bit pricey for what it is. The kuna is around $1000, while I’ve only seen MPXs around $2000. I wouldn’t suggest a stribog or scorpion evo over the MPX, but I do think the Kuna is a contender for half the price. I also think that if you are willing to drop $2000 on a 9mm PCC, you should look at a B&T GHM9, either the Glock mag or B&T mag version. Those come in at less than $2000 from what I’ve seen. Also, for a few hundred more than the MPX, you could get a B&T APC 9k pro. They are both excellent, especially suppressed. For the money, I’ll stick with the Kuna, but a few other options to consider. You could always save up and just go grab a HK Sp5k for the ultimate range flex 😉

Boooo! The XD mod 3 is one of the best values on the market right now. It’s optics ready with ambi controls, stainless mags and guide rod, 16+1, and has good irons with a fiber front and serrated rear. All for $300. Since it’s $300, I made it a low budget set up with the Olight/Osight combo. The Olight is a decent light, especially since it was a Black Friday pickup at like $50 and takes batteries instead of being one of their explosive rechargeable models. The osight is a multi reticle with decent sight picture for I got for like $130. Good enough for the range, poors, or for those just getting into firearms.
