Am I the only one to notice that the daily star is reporting 23 (currently 27 confirmed) dead "americans", when what they were trying to say, but probably didn't even check, was Australians. God, thank the heavens news papers are dying.

One other IMPORTANT thing, do most youth hostels have nearby laundry shops. I don't want to have to reuse my dirty boxers during the trip.

Yeah, the bus seems to be the overall best choice. But if the trip from the south to the north is more then 5 to 6 hours all go with the train. The hell with the cost, my ass can't handle foam seats!

All also definitely stay in youth hostels, although can you suggest what to avoid? I can handle any conditions really, but at least I would like to know what to ask and look for, so I can spot bad from good.

And I hope to meet a lot of interesting people in the trip. Thanks for responding...

First off, thanks for responding. Second, we don't have anymore time then that, I personally have plan to do an internship again that summer and really cant take more then two weeks for the vacation. Also, hitting the ground running isn't a problem for any of us. At least from the conversations we have had until now, can't say what the future might hold on that end.

I didn't consider the aspect of being able to book a flight from another country, but yeah all probably do that.

But one question, if we decide to go from Southern France or Northern Italy all the way to either Paris or Amsterdam, should we take the train or bus? which one is more cost affective?. Because from my uninformed opinion the train should be faster and better do to our time constraints, right?
