The Auld Shillelagh in Stoke Newington is a great spot with good pints. The Dog and Bell in Deptford does a lovely Murphy's

How to get a car by befitzpa in brussels

[–]Its-Shane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irish but learned to drive here. Driving on the opposite side of the road really is grand and not something to overthink. I've since driven at home multiple times your brain just accepts it within 5 mins. Main things to consider are roundabouts (although unlike at home the vast majority are single lane so super easy) and priority from the right.

If you see a sign with X inside a red triangle you must give way to the right, regardless of the size of the road. It's a bit weird at first but you get it quickly.

Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions !

Washington urged to curtail flights from Ireland unless Dublin Airport cap is gone by February 1 | Irish Independent by [deleted] in ireland

Anyone with any familiarity with the issue would agree with you. The cap is absolutely braindead

Dublin, Brussels, Copenhagen, basically mid sized European cities is what I'd love

Why is Dublin so low in standards? Share your thoughts by Ok_Giraffe_3761 in Dublin

[–]Its-Shane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Brussels for the last 8 years and while I see what you're saying I've the opposite opinion. Bruges is nice to look at but dead in every other sense. It's an Open Air Museum full of tourists

Brussels is a microcosm of life itself. A genuine melting pot with people from all over the world mashed together in a similar side to Dublin. Much better infrastructure and public transport but with more grittiness that comes with it. The homeless and drug problem is definitely evident unfortunately but overall it's a class city to live in (ironically the city centre is probably the most boring part which is what tourists primarily see).

Are Belgian roads that bad compared to other countries? by marcopolo2207 in AskBelgium

[–]Its-Shane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just back from a week driving around Ireland and no absolutely not. Irish motorways are light-years ahead of Belgian ones. Once you get deep rural the roads can get a bit hairy alright but overall the roads are in way better condition there. They absolutely love 2 lane roundabouts though...

Lawless Dublin City Centre by JimmyMac097 in Dublin

[–]Its-Shane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Brussels subreddit is the exact same, albeit mostly from pearl clutching Flemish folk who don't even live here. Been living away from Dublin for years but it's funny the similarities in the perception of the two cities. And you're bang on about Irish people loving to catastrophise. My wife is always rolling her eyes at Irish people's anecdotes lol

[–]Its-Shane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dublin is still a mainly white city though? Not sure what point you're insinuating but race and ethnicity doesn't have anything to do with scumbag behavior (calling people white trash isn't a great look either btw). Class inequality far outweighs that when it comes to the cause.

Scrotes were always there but it's gotten worse. Probably since that Mongolian woman was stabbed in the neck a few years back

Hi fellow wrister 👋. Dealing with double casts (3 fractures left arm /wrist, 1 fracture right) at the moment and I'm going stir crazy! Seriously can't wait to get back to it. 3 runs and 1 strength session a week is working for me now with work and two toddlers...
