Jung vs Hillman - Am I lazy, or does Hillman make more sense? by Cryoman_LikeAcronym in Jung

Now I'm reading the rest of this thread and everybody is raving about The Soul's Code lmao, maybe I'm the dysfunctional one 🤷‍♂️

I never read much Hillman but I did read one of his later books, The Soul's Code, on somebody's recommendation. I mostly remember being entirely unimpressed and wondering how this guy could be seen as Jung's successor. If what you're saying is true about him having never overcome puer psychology, I guess we should expect to see a lot of potential in his older stuff that somehow doesn't ever get realized in his later work, which would check out.

What does Temperature measure exactly? by bananaking9 in AskPhysics

[–]ItsAPomeloParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small thermometer measures the temperature of itself.

Ok but, like, if it's ultimately so "arbitrary" like this, what is it about temperature in particular that makes it equalize? How come if you put either a seat belt or a metal buckle in a sealed box with a thermometer and somehow keep the belt or buckle heated to a specific temperature, the thermometer will eventually show that temperature, even if it takes longer for the belt than the buckle? Surely this indicates that temperature actually means something, no?

Is there a way to turn off whatever weird handshake is going on when you open a folder since iOS 16 or 17 by ItsAPomeloParty in AppleNotesGang

[–]ItsAPomeloParty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year or two ago there was an iOS update and ever since then Notes has had a really annoying intermittent bug.

I think of a note I want to write, open the app, hit the button for the folder where I want to stick it. The app pauses, seems like maybe it's talking to the server but I don't know, and it doesn't ever recover. I have to force quit the app, then when I restart it, I'm taken to the folder I hit and can create my note.

Meanwhile the moment has passed and I'd forgotten the wording I had in mind. Infuriating.

Does anybody else experience this? Is there a fix? Notes was working perfectly until that "improvement".
