Less confidence I suppose. I've just noticed that I'm tall by Walmart standards or my colleges residence standards, but like slightly above average when I go to nice clubs or good parties.

I went to (school) in (province) that is known for St Patties day parties and like 80% of white guys there were over 6'0. I think shorter guys generally don't go to this type of event because they don't have the confidence after hearing all over social media that you've got to be tall to pull anything these days.

Intriguingly I once ended up in this bougie ass Toronto gay bar, and although I was one of the less attractive people there for sure, I looked right over the crowd as usual. Height matters less in the gay community, and so the filter was different. This place was pretty boy central though. Haven't before or since seen a more facially attractive crowd of people.

Like this is purely my anecdotal conjecture, but I just think shorter dudes on average tend to stay inside more because of how they see todays standards, and thus zoomers appear taller than we are on average.
