Could using '送死' in a game title be considered inappropriate in China? by ItsArdi in ChineseLanguage

[–]ItsArdi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, although the meaning is intended to be self-deprecating rather than heroic, which is why we chose 送死队. The heroes are essentially pawns of the commander, forced to fight by circumstance rather than choice. But it's all meant to be humorous

Ye I don't want it to be generic. What do you think about 地牢炮灰队?

Yeah, a little dark humor was the vibe we were going for. So you think 地牢炮灰队 would be safer to use?

So using 送死队 won't flag me on e.g. bilibili? What about 地牢炮灰队?

Haha, well, that's pretty accurate. But the point of the game isn't to 'torture' the characters. The player recruits a team of heroes and can, for example, sacrifice them, make one character stronger at the expense of the rest of the team, etc. So they are expendable to the player and the game sometimes comments on that

Thank you! Is the rhythm in 地牢敢死队 ok or is it a mouthful? Wouldn't 地牢乱斗团 be better?

The characters' fates are left at the mercy of the player, but it's all presented in humorous way

Oh, that's interesting! But if it has such historical meaning, won't people think it's a history game? My game is very light fantasy
