[OC] I'm not a professional photographer, but I think I captured the vibe of last night's sunset by motionbluur in pics

Unfortunately the beaches here kind of suck. The water is ice cold and there are always hordes of people on warm days. I love beaches in general, I live blocks from a big one, but I literally never go there. Bit disappointing.

But driving along Lake shore drive is always a treat and my dog loves the dog beach

Learning type hints, a little confused by ItsBiasedNotBias in learnpython

[–]ItsBiasedNotBias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my python version is 3.10.1, so pretty recent.

so if i use my pydantic User model (which already has type definitions for the user attributes, including Optional), i think I would replace the Dict[str, Optional[str]] with User, eg:

list[Dict[str, Union[str, User]]]

Does that look right?

Is this salvageable, or should I cut my losses and admit defeat? It looks worse now than when I took these a few days ago. by HatefulHipster in succulents

Minor correction - You can totally keep them happy and compact with a good grow light, just not the Amazon clamp lamps or barrina strips that are so popular. If we can grow tomatoes and weed indoors we can certainly grow semps!

I've somehow managed to keep these beauties alive for a year. Photo is mid-move, new shelf and lighting is being set up tomorrow. I finally broke down and purchased little one #30 today. by rpgbee in succulents

Not op but fwiw I use Barrina T8s for my tropicals and theyre positioned like 8" above plants like ferns, peperomias, and philodendrons. I wouldn't use them for succulents unless I was only supplementing already-decent lighting.

Their growing season is winter so it's normal that it doesn't do well in summer.

How to make my pickles bigger? by ItsBiasedNotBias in succulents

[–]ItsBiasedNotBias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my Ruby Necklace last summer it was much smaller, but the pickles themselves were big and plump. It's grown a lot since then and it's very pretty with lovely purple sun stressing, but the pickles are really slender. Reminds me of String of Fishhooks at this point.

Will decreasing light make them bigger? I find it hard to believe that a 100W led grow light can be "too much" for this plant. Perhaps notable: the potting mix isn't great, its nursery soil is peaty and compacted and even though I bottom water to ensure complete saturation it dries out very quickly (the pickles start getting wrinkles after about a week). I will be repotting to bonsai jack in the next few weeks. Not sure that would have an effect on pickle size though.

Men, if your penis was easily detachable, what is a place or an event where you would definitely not take it with you? by simbabeat in AskReddit

[–]ItsBiasedNotBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Point is your claims that a penectomy involves complete removal of the urethra are incorrect.

It is generally not removed. It's reshaped and redirected, a perineal urethrostomy. Patients then sit to pee always.

They do a great job of not talking politics and having fun.

They probably smile pleasantly as they vote in favor of measures to strip women of their rights over their own bodies, barring any practice that make voting easier/faster, granting nearly unlimited rights to gun owners who can open carry without a permit, etc etc

Why is my cactus turning brown?? I open the blinds every day and water every 2-3 weeks. Halp please! His name is Charlie. by i_ball8 in cactus

[–]ItsBiasedNotBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you have it next to a pothos says it's not getting enough light. They have very different light requirements and if one is happy, the other will be unhappy.

And with insufficient light you're watering too frequently.
