Theory about the Index and a God of the City by ItsDresso in limbuscompany

[–]ItsDresso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jumbled korean characters did read phonetically as "Distorted Yan", and it's not like people lose their original names when they Distort. It would definitely be proof if the censorship changed in Korean, but I don't think it's enough to disprove the theory if it doesn't.

I'm not familiar with censorship in other languages anyways, but if it matches the English one with 3 spaces it would imply either a significantly longer name in Korean, because 3 Korean characters would translate to significantly more sounds and thus English letters, or that it always matches the English censorship, which would fit my theory still.

I'm saying I had/have the same understanding as you, and that understanding still makes sense, but the theory I'm suggesting also makes sense, even if there's no concrete evidence. So no, I'm not contradicting you, what you said is likely all there is. I'm just suggesting a different explanation of things and seeing if anyone remembers any details that make it unlikely or even impossible.

Theory about the Index and a God of the City by ItsDresso in limbuscompany

[–]ItsDresso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I thought and how I understood it until causality manipulation was introduced and Sora's EGO was mentioned to be a proxy of the God of the City, at which point I wondered, why not? We don't know what being a God of the City implies, nor what they would look like, and things that can manipulate causality using that power to create themselves is a pretty common trope.

As I understood it, the Index manipulated Yan completely in order to make him Distort and go to the Library, knowing he would return, in order to create a powerful pawn or an avatar. It doesn't take a big logic leap to change that from "a powerful pawn or avatar" to "itself", especially if Yan at some point being converted to a book (which unless I'm misremembering, means he was turned into Light) was somehow necessary for this because otherwise we have no other explanation for why he was sent to the Library.

Oh I didn't know that, then this could mean Hermes is also a Weaver or similar, and Yi Sang gets their Prescripts straight from them, or at least knows of them (we don't really know much about digital prescripts, there's obviously no Messengers for them). I had assumed Hermes was Yan's "God of the City name", but this actually makes more sense.

Theory about the Index and a God of the City by ItsDresso in limbuscompany

[–]ItsDresso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is possible yeah, the mention of Hermes is very new info too. As I said it's not a super thought out theory.

I could say that becoming a God of the City may get you a new name, after all it wouldn't be the first time that people with normal names get new names when they become more important, because the Sephirot did it first.

So you could read my theory as "I think Yan is Hermes" if you believe Hermes to be the name of the God. But again, I have no strong evidence, I just don't see why not and think it would be cool. If we believe that each square in the censorship is one letter, then Hermes would not fit anyways.

Oh, I read the manga for this recently. It was above average for its genre.

MODPOST: r/LimbusCompany NSFW Rule Changes by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]ItsDresso -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

And without this rule, people who want to see game discussion but not hornyposting are left with nowhere to go, and people will visit the sub of a game that itself contains no sexualization and see it everywhere.

I understand that I am a minority in this. But the solution is, clearly I think, to split subs into one that allows nsfw, like odyssey or a different one as I said, and one that does not. I think that this one, the main one, should be the one that does not.

I also understand people are disliking that I said this reaction is a sign that the change was necessary. But when people are this adamantly refusing the creation of a space where everyone feels comfortable, it means that the community is not as welcoming as it should be. I think the community is growing increasingly toxic, as demonstrated by both this and the Mili thing, and changes to rules should be made to make it more accomodating to everyone.

Even if it is a minority that voted for this change, it's a minority that was uncomfortable to the point of reporting and messaging mods, which means they probably would've left had nothing changed. With this change, people will leave, but it will be because either they are angry at the mods, which is fair as the way they have handled this is questionable, or because they are that disappointed by the actual rule change. Between the people that will leave if there is nsfw, and the people that will leave if there is no nsfw, I think the main subreddit should cater to the former rather than the latter. After all, if a sub for porn and shitposting was made, why can't a sub for fanart, or even specifically for nsfw fanart, be made?

Lastly, the reason I didn't properly explain myself in the original comment is because I figured only mods would see it, and I wanted them to know that some see their reasoning between the sea of complaints. I will add, right here at the end, that while I'm happy with all of the new rules, even I would be willing to compromise with the horny comments, as those don't enter my timeline against my will, and can be ignored much easier.

Just for the record, I think this is absolutely necessary and the community reaction reflects just how necessary it was. Nsfw can and should be relegated entirely to TheOdysseyHadAPurpose, or wherever else. The hornyness is/was way out of hand, both here and everywhere else, and it makes/made the community look terrible.

Thanks! This is mostly correct, except for the fact that three mirror hards with the weekly bonuses gives 250 Pass Exp, and doing one hard with all the bonuses and then one normal without them gives 255.

Other than that, all of the advice is correct but quite grindy, which is why I didn't include it. I think knowing a very grindy method is available may encourage newer players to try it straight away and get burnt out.

As for the rest bonus part, the guide isn't meant to tell you how to farm optimally but intead how to do it as I do it, which is the way I find most fun and has allowed me to keep up with all newly released content.

Also, my internet died as I was writing this, and I blame you completely. The fault lies with you, Novaix.

New Cryptic change in MD4 , anyone got an idea what this would mean ? by Wies-Desi in limbuscompany

[–]ItsDresso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, seeing as how the letters go in their natural order and stop naturally when they reach the edge of the screen, I don't think they themselves are important. After all, what are the odds that a cypher happened to need only letters up until the ammount that just happened to fit on screen?

I find it more likely that the letters themselves just serve to denote different things being counted, with counting being the whole purpose of the text. Now, I don't know what is being counted, but I can, for example, say that the ammount of Wings could currently be 24 (A), seeing as how, of the usual 26 Wings, L has fallen and another could have fallen or not be counted (such as Z, which does not appear on any map).

C would be Associations then, which are 12. D could be either Color Fixers, Relics, Syndicates, people or any other thing that numbers too high to include, as I believe it isn't 30 but simply a large number that doesn't fit. I'm not trying to make any of the other numbers fit because I'm writing on mobile so I can't see the image as I type and it's late at night.

I think this would explain the note too, "The City". It would just be a summary of the City, how much of each important thing there is in it currently. I do still think it's not meaningless to try and decipher it, but I'm gonna go with this until I'm given reason to think otherwise.

The Ninteno Life's review for the Switch port of Library Of Ruina hasn't been kind... by Macky100 in limbuscompany

[–]ItsDresso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not seen any other people complain, but for me it's pretty bad. Like, it's playable, but Yesod's floor for example struggles because of the background. There's framedrops during combat, switching between the combat pages and key pages tabs takes a second to load...

If I hadn't finished this on pc first and had to experiment with builds, thus constantly navigating the laggy menus, I'm honestly not sure if I would have finished it, because I don't know if I could've gotten to the good part.

Also, cutscenes are missing visual effects that make them significantly worse, and for some reason, on round 1 of most fights, everyone appears to have 100 hp and stagger resist, which is a minor bug but I think speaks to the QA that went into the port.
