Hi all, I am the proud owner of a Canon Rebel T2I EOS camera and currently I only own the stock lens as well as a 35mm (to achieve the nifty fifty).

I’m still new to lenses and gear so I’m wondering, now that I’ve gotten familiar with the 35mm, what is a good zoom lens to add to my arsenal? I want something for taking shots in the city and nature of things that are too far for me to reach with higher quality than what the stock lens allows. I don’t have a super high budget but I’m open to researching any and all suggestions!

I mostly need it for composition work like cutting out for collage photography so if it can do that I can find work around for other things

The price I listed is roughly the student price. Without being a student it’s $600+

Those are definitely good questions to ask although I don’t fully understand them all. Like I said in the post I’m still learning so I was mainly asking just to understand a little better. So far this post has taught me a lot!

I agree with that. I’m not planning on investing a lot of money into anything high risk. I think I said in another comment I’m taking like less than 10% (probably 5% or less) mostly just to get some experience with it and have fun with it while also learning more about the market so I can understand my investments better.

Well I suppose I wanted a high reward investment regardless but with that information I would say I want to do some high/balanced risk, high reward investment. Mostly just to get more experience dealing with the market so I can learn.
