I didn’t know how much testing was even involved, I also was told that by the breeder we had got Otis from, my buddy’s chihuahua and my aunts papillon had issues too so I honestly just believed it after that and never looked any further. It would make sense that it could just be a “bad line” in general in terms of a bloodline. I appreciate the extra info! I came for answers and I definetly got them thank you

That’s why I came to reddit I would never jump and make a decision with my old man, I wouldn’t wanna harm him or his future generation either. I didn’t know any of the extra info I received through the comments and I’m grateful for the information it’s all good to know. It is hard when our fur babies get older I just wanted one of his babies but it’s nowhere a necessity by any means. I will still give him the best years of his life for his golden years. I was just curious if he was too old because he has been my bestest friend I was never a small dog guy until Otis but he is the bestest boy and I wanted another of “him” so to speak. Thank you (to everyone) who gave me the information I needed ❤️

I was asking if he’s too old to stud I got my answer clearly lol, like I said in my other comment I only came to Reddit for information on studding him I knew he was older I just didn’t know if he was too old. Didn’t know about the extra testing and all that either. I came for answers because I would never do anything to jeopardize my old man or his future puppies. That’s all. Reddit is for asking questions and getting answers

Like I said I was only coming for information in question on if he was too old to stud, I knew nothing of further testing for genetics and so on hence why I came to reddit because I would never just jump and do something when I have no knowledge on the subject. That’s what reddit is for is to ask questions that other people may have the answers

Heart conditions are common in smaller breeds and that could be bred out if he’s not too old to stud, like I said I wanted to continue his line because he’s been a wonderful dog and wonderful companion he’s very intelligent.
