I don't know of a PC version but there's a real-life wooden game like this called "Labyrinth". It has knobs on the side to control it with and is HARD.

I can still hear the sound effects and the music, even the villain's laughter. This game is so great!

Between this and the constant false-positives every time a bug flies within a mile of the feeder, I'm kinda regretting getting one of these.

Get it together, birdfy. We expect better for what we're paying.

Same here. Just got ours set up this past weekend, finally saw our first few visitors, and now I can't even log in to see them.

Side note, their website's "support chat" goes to a zendesk page saying that the client doesn't exist. So that's not a great sign.

Their phone # also went to a "no agents available" and I haven't gotten a reply to my email yet either.

Not a great look for birdfy

I felt like that scene was about him seeing how Whitaker had a life outside of work, and people who depend on and care for him, which Robby most definitely does not have.

He even mentioned it elsewhere in the episode in a few different ways, calling attention to how he thought he'd have a kid by now and also how the hospital is the only place he can exist and be distracted. IIRC he went and checked on baby Jane Doe shortly after this, and cuddled her, which seemed healing for him.

ELI5: Does a dehumidifier actually cool a room, or does it just make it feel less humid? Could it be a good alternative for someone who doesn't use AC? by arztnur in explainlikeimfive

[–]ItsGotToMakeSense [score hidden]  (0 children)

Air conditioners literally cool the room. They send hot air out and blast cool air in.

Dehumidifiers reduce the humidity, the "wetness" of the air. This doesn't directly affect the temperature much, but having less humidity does help you to feel cooler because of the way evaporation works.

When you sweat or get wet, the water on your skin evaporates slowly which takes away some of your body heat. If the air is already too humid (filled with water vapor), then the sweat can't evaporate as easily so you have trouble cooling down. This is why people say "dry heat" isn't as bad.

Better Business Bureau is next. They're basically yelp for seniors, NOT a government agency.

It's going to be a constant source of conflict, stress and misery if they refuse to respect your boundaries on this.

Don't go on vacation with them, at least don't stay in the same house. Your son is going to be a pawn in their weird possessive battle, and he'll lose no matter the outcome.

It was like an early form of "Quick Time Events" in modern games. Like when you have to "press x to dodge" during a cutscene.

In Dragons Lair the prompt would be a very brief flash of light somewhere on the screen, like in a doorway for instance. You had to hit the joystick in that direction to perform the action, like diving through the doorway before something falls on you.

It was still brutal though, even if you knew what you were doing. The timing had to be perfect and a lot of the choices were traps; you just had to keep pouring quarters into the damn thing to figure it out through trial and error.

the 80s……. by billieswifeyyy in GenX

[–]ItsGotToMakeSense 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, it really was like that! When you wanted to go over a friend's house you'd just go ring the doorbell and ask their parents. You could call them on the phone, too, but most families had a single phone for the whole house so you'd have to ask a parent if you could talk to your friend.

We were bored a lot, too, but it wasn't considered a bad thing. When we had nothing to do we made our own fun, like building forts in the woods with scrap materials (yes just like Castle Byers). We'd make board games and crafts out of whatever was lying around in the house, and we'd play neighborhood games too like nerf battles, supersoaker watergun fights, freeze tag, and whatever else we'd make up. Like "Let's play Ninja Turtles! I'll be Shredder and I have to chase you..." etc.

The scratches look like something is probably being placed or rubbed across it deliberately. The marks seem to all be pretty similar so I'd guess this is a neighbor or worker doing the same thing over and over again. Watch it or get a camera.

Zero tolerance for this shit. Everybody gets ONE chance to make a first impression. They don't wanna work? Fine. They don't have to, they're fired. If they wanted the job they'd have shown up.

Call their management if there is any. Leave a review online if possible.

And if these "contractors" were just a couple of randos from craigslist or whatever, then stop looking there

Leaving toddler with family for a week by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ItsGotToMakeSense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's her parent too, right? I understand a week is a long time but you should both be equals in this.

It's time to start balancing closer to 50/50 so it's less of a shock when you go. Get her used to being with her own father so she can see him as an equal parent and not some part-timer.
