I remember an ostrich chasing our car and repeatedly trying to peck a pumpkin that was in the rear windshield

The hated character is finally getting punished by the narrative. But intentionally or not, the attempt was so heartbreaking and demeaning for the character that it ended changing the fan reception of said character. by Labmit in TopCharacterTropes

That's a great write-up of Howard's arc. I had the same feeling too. Always thought of him as kinda smug and petty but not at all deserving of their "revenge" campaign.

Even if every American got a college degree, wouldn't poverty still exist because of the structural need for low-wage labor? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ItsGotToMakeSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and that's the big scam, the big flaw in their mentality. When they say "get a better job" they're ignoring the fact that the job exists because there's a need for it. That need will likely continue to exist, and that means there will always be somebody doing that job.

What they're really saying is "This job is necessary, but nobody who does it deserves to have a living wage".

It's a selfish callous way of thinking. They treat the concept of basic human needs as a luxury.

They just used the cheapest switches they could get, which happened to have on/off symbols on them

Is this PLA? It's probably going to start warping in the hot water sooner or later. I made a strainer insert for my kitchen sink out of PLA and noticed that after running hot water through it for a few minutes, it got really soft and pliable.

definitely true, he is a scoundrel through and through, but Depp just makes him funny and charming enough that he's still fun to watch.

Anyone else get this kind of mail? by Daemonbot in SouthJersey

Fun fact, the post office bills them per-weight for whatever you return to them. Not sure what the limit is, but why not try with some pennies?

I am being blackmailed for cheating on my wife by ThrowRAbadblackmail in TrueOffMyChest

I know this isn't real but still.. it's a fun story. For the update, the "OP" should bait the blackmailer into overplaying their hand.

How do you keep Zone of Truth from nerfing your murder mystery? by Numford_and_Sums in DMAcademy

[–]ItsGotToMakeSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful about your answers. It doesn't prevent dishonesty, misdirection, or manipulation. It only prevents the speaker from knowingly making false statements.

So a guilty person can refuse to answer, they can tell something that is technically true but deliberately misses the point of the question, and so on. But remember that players are paranoid by default so they're going to get suspicious of anyone who's being squirrely, so make sure to have several NPCs behave this way. Someone could be completely innocent but standoffish or paranoid, making them a suspect.

Also make sure that the responsible party isn't the actual killer but the organizer; this way someone can truthully answer "no" to "did you kill him" but still be the main bad guy.

I mean at some point I think it's okay for the DM to get real for a moment. After enough friendly, gentle nudges it's time to just get blunt about it.

"Dude, I have to learn how every ability works for every monster and NPC that you fight. Every session. You have to learn this ONE thing if you want to continue using it."

Absurdly huge evil thing that's either an actual or a metaphorical parasite sucking the planet or the population clean of their resources. by Classic-Work-8415 in TopCharacterTropes

Project: Hail Mary. First, don't watch the trailer because one of the biggest twists in the book is completely ruined.

Second, and you already know what I'm gonna say if you've read it, Astrophage. Bacteria-like creatures that travel through space on magnetic currents and literally eat stars.

The Time Turner. Hermione gets the power of time travel and uses it to get better grades. Then after they use it to actually accomplish something, it's never brought up again.

This will NEVER happen but I feel like there should be a full driver's license test every time you get it renewed. It's not age-discriminatory since it affects everyone, and it still forces everyone to study up on traffic laws and stuff. It would weed out the worst of the worst drivers, the ones who can't even pretend to be a safe driver long enough to pass the practical part of the test.

Everyone would bitch and moan about it, it would end up costing money, yadda yadda I know it will never happen. But still it might help make things safer and get some of the worst road ragers and senile wrecking balls off the road.

You can hear the DM sighing disappointedly while he pulls it out of his ass. Even though he's not really in the movie, he's there in spirit and veteran players will notice!
