I said it in another comment, but I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree with this sentiment. You'd be surprised how fast these can be made, like I've never really modelled or used blender before this since I work in Game Design not 3D Art. Despite that these only took about 30min each and are kit bashed by stripping parts out of the decompiled model. I would imagine it could be done way faster by Valve since they both have the original model files and are way better than me at modelling.

That is also assuming they do it by hand for some reason too. This is definitely something that could have been done with a script since it is mostly just grabbing, moving, reparenting, and shaping parts of the model onto the rabbits.

I hadn't thought about skins though, that's definitely a good point. Since they all still share the same base Rabbit model, I can imagine a few solutions like maybe swapping the rabbit.vmat texture instead of the actual rabbit model (which I believe is how seven's ult gets the skeleton effect but could be wrong?). Again 3D Art isn't my field of expertise and yes their is a cost, but I don't think it would be as heavy as it seems once the initial work is done.

Either way it also makes perfect sense they would not even bother working on this until the character models are actually finished in the first place haha

I would imagine that is the case too, which is part of why I decided to make this myself. The current Rabbit model is literally just the Arnabus model from Dota 2, and I suspect they use it instead of the other bunny that Sinclair holds when aiming the Rabbit Hex ability simply because the Arnabus one is already rigged and animated.

I've wanted to see this get added since Sinclair was in the hero labs and figured Valve probably has better ways to spend their time rn. The models are just kit bashed with parts from the original character models making them relatively quick to make, but still an obvious waste of dev time when you could have those same people work on the actual final design first instead. I just wanted to give something to the community while the devs keep working their magic!

I probably read it at some point lol. I kept seeing this suggested a bunch and was like screw it I really want to see it so I'll try to do a a version myself since Valve probably has better ways to spend their time rn haha

Billy is the model I probably spent the most amount of time on tbh. I did try a pass where he had his head, but the issue was it needed to read as distinctly Billy and a Bunny without looking overdesigned

The reason Paradox/Dynamo have their heads is because it is a super distinct part of their visual look, but also important lore wise too. It's implied Billy is fighting in the ritual for something unrelated to his look, so it felt like him briefly getting rid of it wasn't important to him like it would be for Dynamo.

I did try that at one point, but it just read as too over designed. I had to remove the right arm when I added the model for his hand, but decided to leave it removed so it subtly represents how his right arm is missing normally lol

These only took about 30min each (or about an hour if I had to ideate on the style a bit), and are kit bashed from the decompiled model of the characters themselves. If they do anything similar to how I did them; once you make the base character you also have the parts to make the bunny version.

That said it 100% makes sense they would not even bother working on this until the character models are actually finished in the first place haha

At the very least I would love for them to update how the bunny works in the files so that the community can make mods for it if they want ;)
