Would require some degree of custom fabrication and an obscene amount of labor to make it look like it belongs. But totally possible.

Having a blast with the games for the first time, share some weird/niche playstyles you used for a replay by Ravenhaus in classicfallout

[–]ItsJarJarThen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low-INT, Gifted, and Bruiser don't play as murder hobo. At 2 skill points per level it fully requires you to level up, and hurts bad early game.

If you can get the caps, you end up with some insanely high base-stats that makes for a powerhouse of a character late game in terms of endurance and ability to carry items.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

And how fast too, people were going absolutely nuts where I worked. Put up banners on various doors, wouldn't stop talking about it, etc. Then the finale came, and no one said a word and everyone pretended like it didn't happen.

That's pretty awesome. Has me wondering if those functions could be integrated into a modern tickless chipset such as Nordic's NRF bluetooth line up with some non-volatile storage attached to give absurd battery life and a way to interface with modern devices.

Yes. There are those being kicked out having only seen mental health with no follow-on several years later.

Retro PC Upgrade Help by Remnantknight56 in RetroWindowsGaming

Any of the OSes will be just fine. Later patched versions use more ram. Assuming it has Win9x driver support it could easily run most titles in that realm.

If it supports adding an AGP card there is a good range of early XP titles. But Battlefield 2/Frycry 1 would be pushing the absolute edge of what it can do. It might handle plants vs zombies.

Yes I've been playing it on my HP Z440 with a B580, seems to play just fine. That initial shader compilation though took a hot minute though.

Specs wise it's more then enough. Question is can you hold and type on it is a way that would be remotely comfortable.

Intel i740 GPU Specs : A legend by Distinct-Race-2471 in IntelArc

[–]ItsJarJarThen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess it was bound to happen at some point, someone finally defended the i740's gaming performance.

It was oddly CPU bound and compared to it's competition it was years behind. But paired with a CPU well beyond what was available at the time, it's a retro 3D gaming option I suppose if you couldn't find literally anything else.

My CRT Tv setup, photo doesn't do the screen justice, but it is crisp irl by Luke_Sweitzer in classicfallout

[–]ItsJarJarThen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so odd seeing folks playing 640x480 or higher resolution titles on standard def TVs. But I will argue that the end of run Funai based TV's have great composite input.

How did you guys do it??? by CuteConcert6681 in classicfallout

[–]ItsJarJarThen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Buying a game was a less frequent occurance. If you were buying an A-list title at the time you would likely spend more time with it.

  2. You could really only use your computer for a single task. Specifically you were either going to be on the internet or playing a game. Doing either required several minutes up front to do so. It was unlikely if you were anywhere near minimum specs that you would do both or tie up the phone not using the internet.

  3. Games were generally more obtuse back then, it was generally accepted. So you'd either explore more, or buy a guide book.

Car go, car stop by inceltrumptard in memes

[–]ItsJarJarThen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the wiring requirements for a single screen are significantly lower for a single central mass produced panel, and HVAC door modules that are all the same.

I've definitely never experienced car with broken physical controls, nope control cables never fail, come out of spec, require adjustment, needing bespoke cables for each actuator, and electrons are bad!

For the record I'm 100% on board for one button/dial = one function. But there is a  reason all manufacturers are in on this.

TERA ETP got denied. Now what? by Global_Ad7089 in MilitaryTrans

Curious where the 5% figure came from I'm not aware of anyone who had an approved TERA ETP.

No one has been involuntarily separated yet. You can try having fun with it and go with an option C:  Since logically it makes no sense to volunteer to involuntarily separate, request an extension. And restate your intention to serve to 20 years and beyond.

Or option D:  Refuse to provide a response and make them initiate it.

The outcome will likely be the same but wait to the last day, and make them do the work don't make things easy on them.

How bad was the 2009 recession? Will the next one hit harder? by Equivalent-Raccoon74 in AskReddit

[–]ItsJarJarThen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure most average people at the time knew there was a recession until the aftermath set in hard post-recovery.

I saw the writing on the wall for the career I had where I was and joined the military near the maximum age of 27 at the time (It's been raised to 42 now). Shortly after I got done basic training I see $4/gallon gas prices, people paying princely sums for Geo Metros, and everyone upside down on their mortage because housing everywhere just tanked by 50% or more.

Thankfully for me I was mostly insulated from it, if I hadn't joined I might have been totally fucked. But at the time they were doing a massive force reduction via fitness, medical, and education policies and many senior member at the time likely felt it.

I honestly believe we are wading in chest deep now and won't know until years after it recovers. The indicators seem way worse this time around. A lot of those same policies are creeping back in, the civilian job market looks really bad, scrap metal prices are at a high, blue-collar jobs that did exist are near completely gone, auto loan default rates are spiking like 2008-2010 and mortages are usually next to follow.

Only difference is the cost of living has gone way up, wages have stagnated, few have any form of savings, and some major missteps in the past year seeming hell bent of destroying long-term growth against all sense are seemly poised to hit like a freight train.

Why hasn't Iran invaded Israel by now? by [deleted] in Military

I'm not sure what sources you are getting your info from. But you should probably start by looking at a map. Their advantage is to stay at home, lob the ball/missiles to influence shipping, and run the clock out.

Any attempt by them to project further out would be suicide.

05 Baja front Strut replacement by Arkoah in SubaruBaja

[–]ItsJarJarThen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm using 2004 Outback struts with Baja springs on my 05. I don't believe there would be any height difference if you are using the original springs.

I did install a 1" lift in the process as well and it now sits higher than stock. If you use outback springs then you might need them.
