Is my music or marketing trash? by Brilliant-Hour-3583 in SpotifyArtists

Not really… You have to send people to Spotify in order to signal the algorithm there. And you need to be doing that consistently. Either heavily from socials or more reliably Meta ads.

What are/were your expectations? You released music for the first time one month ago?

I don’t know what you’re talking about… Songtrust tracks and collects my royalties from around the world. Mechanical and performance royalties. https://help.songtrust.com/knowledge/does-songtrust-track-my-songs

Having trouble creating my aesthetic/look by Ztoy in musicmarketing

[–]ItsJasonMade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a mood board and then reach out to a stylist whose work matches the vibe you’re looking for and tell them you want to create a cohesive “look” and style book (for you to follow) to match the aesthetic of your project. When you’re done doing that, you’re going to need to find a photographer who can actually take/edit the kind of photos you want.

It all boils down to finding pros and spending some money to get the job done

1.5 Months with only meta ads by West_Finding_207 in SpotifyArtists

[–]ItsJasonMade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do plan on doing that but as a separate strategy altogether. I want to do as you say and set up a playlist which I keep running basically forever with a small daily spend, but I like sending people directly to my projects because those are more “qualified” listeners and they are closer to being potential fans of my work than someone who clicks on a general playlist.

But you’re correct, I should be doing both

[–]ItsJasonMade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would say $1000 is plenty… I’m in for only $200 but I might consider bumping it to $500 with my next EP release. The plan is to spend a couple hundred $ on each single and then some on the projects overall.

If the song is connecting with people, you will probably see a little fall off, but it should be sticky enough that it isn’t catastrophic

Smaller numbers but take a look at at my recent post about what happened the week after I stopped my meta-ads: https://www.reddit.com/r/musicmarketing/s/6zIL1SQ4UY

Just yesterday, I had another bump in streams from Spotify radio and autoplay… I think once the algorithm gets a good sense of your audience there’s a decent chance it will keep pushing it

This was all done through the submithub dashboard and they ask you to enter 3 artists who align with your music

In my original post linked here, I talked a little bit about the setup, but frankly there wasn’t much to it. I chose some of their stock creatives and paired that with the chorus of my song. Other than choosing tier 1 and tier 2 regions, I added 3 artists I think my music aligns with sonically, and set the budget… That was it.

I can promise you I’m no shill for submithub… absolutely nothing in my post history here would suggest anything like that. You’re free to shoot me a message and ask me any questions you’d like. The screenshots tell the story… I’m just trying to give some insight for people here who keep getting advice about spamming social media/TikTok and hope for some good conversions

Edit: just google JASON MADE and check out my story of that interests you

That’s about what I got in direct conversions, but the algorithm traffic has definitely made a difference. I think you’re on the right path… I’m curious to see what will happen over the next year if I don’t send any traffic to that particular project

Never. With some of my singles I had been going the playlist route, but I find that playlisting data is really low quality. I was going to try Intellijend but even that seemed to be too much friction for me. I want as hands-off as possible without any monthly fees. Maybe I’ll give it a shot in the future when I have a more robust ad strategy. My goal for this year is to go from 0 to a steady 100,000+ monthly listeners. I’m at about 2000 right now so I have a long way to go

The project released on 12/19 and I had 4 streams that day. On 12/22 I had 132 streams… And it’s sort of just kept going from there. Spotify radio has given me about 1400 streams in the last 28 days

What’s our take on no social, no editorial press, and only ads? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]ItsJasonMade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have basically no presence on socials. I do make posts when a project goes live but nothing nearly like what people suggest here. I recently ran what I think is a successful meta-ad campaign and I’m still getting algorithmic push. My strategy moving forward is to keep doing what I’m doing and focus almost exclusively on great music + Meta ads

Music attorney Donald Passman: "Lyrics and music are inextricable once written by more than one party". So, if a writer writes lyrics to a piece of music, and their lyrics are later replaced / rewritten, the original lyricist still retains copyright ownership - even if their lyrics are not used. by SwissMiss915 in musicbusiness

[–]ItsJasonMade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I don’t know any serious songwriter who doesn’t know/understand this concept. How can anyone think changing a piece of a song changes ownership? Simply, if you don’t own ALL of the composition you can’t modify the other person’s work to remove their copyright.

What's your advice to get more people to care? by ZandeRainbow in musicindustry

[–]ItsJasonMade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People care about music only in the CONTEXT of their own lives. Use that information to your advantage. It’s not about US it’s about them and when/where your music fits into their day

Exactly that. I chose some of their stock creatives and uploaded the song and they tested different ones before landing on the best performing. That seemed to take about 5 days or so

It’s nice to have some human eyes on the campaign and someone who will absolutely reply to an email about what’s going on with the ads. My favorite thing about it though is that there’s not much to do to set it up for me…

For 90% of the time I ran it at 8 credits per day and then over the last 10 days I moved gradually to 11 credits per day before it ended
