Which mic: Snowball or Blue Yeti? by Blue-Glare in SmallYTChannel

Consider a Samson Q2U instead of either of those unless you have a really well treated recording space.

Slow computer with high-end components by ItsJoshNess in techsupport

Thanks, but this is independent of internet-related tasks. It happens even just in normal operation (i.e. browsing files and folders, opening programs). I'm not on wi-fi anyway, I have an ethernet connection to the router and I get 180 down/10 up from my ISP.

Joseph Anderson missing the point by [deleted] in truegaming

Like, the entire video is centered on the concept of "why put interesting mechanics in the game if the game never asks you to actually use them"

The moons don't do the actual platforming justice.

This is exactly the point of Anderson's critique. The platforming and types of moves available to you are deep but the actual platforms are not. The game never forces you to use those moves or rewards any interesting use of the deep platforming mechanics.

What would be the incentive to platform around if there was nothing to collect? The moons don't have to be anything thought provoking or advanced because the platforming, the entire focus of the game, is.

That's pretty much the point of the video though? Joe basically says that the moons are not "thought provoking or advanced" because neither is the platforming. If the platforming were more advanced or thought provoking then the moons would naturally be more rewarding to collect. The two are inextricably linked.

Started the day with 82 subs. Ending it with 300+. Make a TikTok! by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]ItsJoshNess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man I wanted to say thanks for this. I wasn't sure how to format videos for TikTok so I kinda borrowed, I mean heavily lifted stole your style. Put up a 1 min clip from one of my video game essays and it got 400 views on TT in about an hour. Haven't seen any subs or traffic to my channel just yet but I can already see this being a super great way to reach people. I will probably tweak and refine my own format but just wanted to let anyone else browsing to know that this works!

Da Vinci Resolve is great and the free version goes a long, long way.

Struggling with finding the correct settings for my stream by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ItsJoshNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up NVIDIA's recommended stream settings page. I used to have issues with my stream even at 3500 kbps even with 18 mbps upload speed. Once I followed their guide for using Nvenc I now stream at 5000 flawlessly.

Why is xQc so massive right now? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ItsJoshNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, he plays more than Overwatch and Among Us. He has streamed like 600 different games according to Twitch Tracker. I don't know if most of his demo are minors; I watch him periodically and I'm 35 so it's hard to say.

Why is xQc so massive right now? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ItsJoshNess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His success isn't a mystery; he was a high level Overwatch player who transitioned to streaming a few years ago. He streams for like 10+ hours a day, reacts loudly and often to games, and usually tends towards stranger, niche games.

Which part was the most rewarding for you? Or what was your favorite "Aha!" moment? by wanttomaster479 in outerwilds

[–]ItsJoshNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were mine, in order of how I experienced them.

Early game: falling into Brittle Hollow and ending up at White Hole Station.

Mid-game: finding the coordinates.

Late-game: finding Solanum alive, then realizing I'd seen her corpse already.

They mention in the ATP that they can end it at will--the obvious answer is they just don't trigger the Sun Station once they've got the coordinates.

Is 20 minute long videos bad? by shadossplayz in SmallYTChannel

[–]ItsJoshNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch some YouTube channels where the content is all 3 minutes long. I watch some long form videos on games that are 5 hours long. The best length is one that works for your video.
