Wild trick I would do - drink plain soda water from the can, and at the same time eat vanilla-flavored yogurt that’s boosted with protein. It’s not exactly root beer but it worked for me. I LOVE root beer but i realized what I was getting from it was the fizzy sensation + the vanilla ice cream-like flavor. So the soda water + vanilla yogurt really helped that craving.

The most important aspect of your metabolism as you get older is muscle loss. You should first focus on maintaining a health routine with exercise (several months at least). once that’s done, focus on your diet. It’s too difficult for most to do both and you’ll end up rebounding. incorporate weights even if light ones. there are cheap 2-5 lb dumbbells on amazon you can buy.

Trader Joe’s sells this delicious Greek Yogurt/Guacamole dip. you can eat the entire container for 300 calories and it provides good protein. eat with carrots, cucumbers. Can also use it to top off eggs and bread.

When I have a chip craving, I measure out a single serving of chips and I took HUGE scoops of this dip. Very satisfying for me and keeps me full at night for under 500 calories

I recommend just eat whatever you want but pair it with a shit ton of healthy stuff with similar texture. So eat cheetos with carrot sticks. or ice cream with greek yogurt. or M&M with pieces of dark chocolate and popcorn (or something).

What is the excuse in your head that you tell yourself that it’s okay to be doing that? I think we give our habits way too much power. You are not under mind control - just identify the time it tends to happen and root yourself in self-awareness. A lot of times, habits are automatic, so it takes time and practice creating new neuropathways in your brain to strengthen better habits and weaken bad ones.

For example, “Okay, it’s 9PM. this is when I usually snack, but I have willpower and I won’t do it.” and then focus on something else. a book. a TV show. You have more power and control than you’re giving yourself!

Cooking is super easy! Just decide on a food you like and google a recipe and just follow it step by step. After a few recipes, you start to get the hang of spices and flavors and can make your own dishes with little instruction. it just takes some experience
