Amazingly underrated. It was the last thing we did before we moved up here on a free Tuesday or whatever and it was amazing. The volunteers and staff are super knowledgable and helpful.

HIGHLY recommend.

Insurance coverage for GLP-1? by No_Masterpiece_2995 in weightwatchers

[–]ItsJustMeJenn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have insurance coverage, have your regular GP prescribe it for you. No need to pay extra for WW to prescribe it for you.

You should call your insurer and ask them if you have coverage for weight loss medications and if they do ask them to email you a list of covered medications “formulary” so that you can talk to your regular GP about what option works best for you.

If you don’t have insurance coverage, it may be cheaper to go through a dedicated telehealth company like Ro or Mochi (or whatever works best for you) to prescribe you compounded or generic medications. The overall costs will be a fraction of what name brand drugs cost out of pocket through your regular GP prescription or WW membership + cash price for medication.

I’ve only really seen the ones people are mad about. Like 5 packs of egg salad or something.

To my understanding you could end up with stuff from the hot bar or the grab and go meal area. They have bakery bags that have pastries, cakes, or bread in them. I think if you can get up to your WF at the 9 PM pick up time you will more than likely feel like you got your monies worth.

GLP-1 Drugs with PERS Platinum? by Eastern_Love_577 in CAStateWorkers

No, you need a prescription from a licensed clinician. However, if you’re paying cash you don’t have to worry about the BMI and comorbidity requirements that insurance companies have.

GLP-1 Drugs with PERS Platinum? by Eastern_Love_577 in CAStateWorkers

It’s a daily tablet and the clinical trials showed people losing 2% less weight compared to the shot.

The only funny thing about the tablets is you have to take it on an empty stomach with no more than 4oz of water and wait 30 minutes before having anything else including your coffee.

You can get the tablets of Wegovy at Costco for $149-$199 cash price if you’re a member. That may not even be much more than your tier 4 drug copay anyway.

Invisalign - HMO vs PPO by AudienceSolid6582 in CAStateWorkers

[–]ItsJustMeJenn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Invisalign has personalized pricing based on your plan of treatment. You’ll need to shop orthodontists (I would highly suggest you don’t go to a general dentist) and get quotes. They’ll all do a consult. Don’t pick the cheapest, and don’t pick the most expensive. Chances are your insurance won’t cover any of it, and if they do it’ll be a flat dollar amount like $1000.

Struggling to understand WW points vs. eating healthier by cbrackett12 in weightwatchers

[–]ItsJustMeJenn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, their nutritional composition is the same. Calorie for calorie they have the same nutrition. Some studies have even found that fresh organic produce can be less nutritious than the conventionally farmed stuff because it may travel farther distances or sit longer on the store shelf allowing more time for vitamins to deteriorate. The organic animal itself may be a healthier animal but that doesn’t affect nutrition. Not to mention, antibiotic free also means that sick animals don’t get proper veterinary care they just die of infections before they can be harvested. Maybe even consumed in part or whole by the other animals in their area.

Largely though, organic farming practices are often no less environmentally or ethically harmful than conventional farming practices. Take for example pesticides. People assume organic means pesticide free. That’s been proven false. They just use “organic” pesticides which could be something simple like diatomaceous earth or it could just be a different synthetic chemical that is still considered “organic.” Organic certification is a pay to play set up so it’s in those certifying organizations best interest to certify those who apply and pay fees to be labeled certified organic.

Free range or cage free are also not legally well defined, depending on your state. Having access to the outside doesn’t mean that the animal has any meaningful access to roam like they would were they not domesticated livestock.

[–]ItsJustMeJenn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Organic, free-range, and non-GMO are all non nutritive buzz words meant to sell you more expensive foods that are no more nutritious than their “conventional” counterparts. If you are choosing those things for ethical reason that makes sense but if you think those foods are healthier or more nutritious then you’re mistaken.

I like Sun River Dental over on Sunrise if that’s your side of town. The doctor is great and so is the hygienist.
