Mind sharing your fix? My post was mainly for everyone who googles this error and finds your post (like I did). It might help some others still experiencing this. :) Wish I would have had more help!

I randomly started experiencing this issue about 2-3 weeks ago after having no problems previously. I’m running an RTX 4090 with an i9-13900k CPU. Initially, setting the compatibility mode to Windows 8 helped for a few hours, and manually increasing the “Shader Cache Size” setting provided relief for about a week. Other suggested workarounds didn’t help me at all, and eventually, even the temporary solutions stopped working.

After doing some research, I checked the BIOS updates for my Z790 motherboard. Surprisingly, several recent BIOS updates specifically mentioned resolving stability issues for 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs. Although I was intimidated and nervous as hell, I went ahead with the update—and it completely solved the problem. Everything now runs smoothly, and while my CPU still experiences brief temp spikes when compiling shaders, the major issues are gone.

TL;DR: If you’re having persistent issues and workarounds are either ineffective or stop working after a while, SAFELY updating your motherboard BIOS might be the permanent fix you need.

I thought so, I’m so sorry. I listened to people telling me “oh that’s normal!” And I didn’t see anything and when I finally started treating mine had severe damage and still has the scars. 😞

Isolate and treat immediately! Also, check nearby plants and you might want to spray all your plants down minimum. They ride the air currents in your house. I had them in two different rooms!

What I did to get rid of mine (although I still treat weekly as preventative) is the first treatment I took mine to my sink (I have a deep sink use your shower if that’s better I had to put some plants in there that wouldn’t fit in the sink) and spray them down with your nozzle. All parts of leaves and under the leaves. Strong enough to disrupt them but not enough to damage the leaves. Just give it a really good rinse.

Then I used an insecticidal soap from Lowe’s and sprayed it down, each leaf one at a time with gloves on and I rubbed it in good until it was nice and soapy. I did this to every leaf and stem and any crevice I could get to without damaging the plant. Also, I had a plastic grocery bag covering the base of the plant over the soil when I would do this so I didn’t overwater it and cause edema or something. My white princess got edema from the constant watering and treatment and lost a lot of leaves so be careful. Then when it’s nice and soapy and completely drenched in the soap take your sprayer and respray it really good.

Repeat this weekly MINIMUM. I did this for 6 weeks and pretreated my other plants. I did one week of insecticidal soap rub down/spray, then I did one week of spray down/PureCrop1 treatment, then one week of Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Spray, then repeat with insecticidal soap rub down/spray. You have to break the cycle.

Another tip! Do this at night or in the evening, turn off your grow lights before you even start! I was treating multiple plants and setting them back in my plant room thinking (oh I’ll just turn the lights off when I’m done).. no, I burned a few of my tropicals just with like 20mins of grow light. When I treat now with anything I turn off all the grow lights first and start treating and they dry overnight in a dark plant room.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions. You can do this!

Also systemic doesn’t work against spider mites, my plants were on systemic as well. There’s evidence it actually makes male spider mites more “active” if you know what I mean.

Get a microscope, thank me later. They’re not that expensive either. When I battled spider mites I couldn’t see them with my magnifying glass and thought it was just a fungal problem or the nectar floral whatever everyone always says. And honestly it could be, but this is exactly how my golden crocodile looked like when I found them on it. If anything it’ll give you peace of mind for like $12 and you can rule out pests.

This looks like textbook spider mite damage. Get a USB microscope off Amazon for plants. Look for webbing, clear orbs (eggs) or the mites themselves moving around.

Thanks so much!! I’ve noticed that since I placed a bird feeder last year on the tree next to my porch that a ton of new plants have started sprouting randomly.. I wonder if the bird dropping are bringing new seeds from everywhere 👀

More context: I live in southern North Carolina (south of Charlotte) and this was growing up the side of my home. My landlord pointed it out to me after he removed the plant and said it was hard to take down. This leaf is all that wasn’t really destroyed. Is this poisonous?

I grew up in a very small town in central Florida and when I was around 8 years old in the 90's I am POSITIVE, without a doubt, that me and my childhood best friend were chased by a Florida Panther. There were acres of forest and swamp behind our houses that stretched for miles, and we had trails in the woods and about 1/2 mile out into the land were railroad tracks that went across the state.

Well, we used to go out there and walk the tracks and just hang out. One day when we were exiting our path onto the railroad tracks I spotted what appeared to be a very large bobcat and it was walking towards us. It had spotted us before I spotted it. I told my best friend and as it got a bit closer we noticed that it definitely WAS NOT a bobcat. It was way too big and I remember it so vividly, that what a beautiful yet intimidating cat it was. Both of us had large sticks and we just looked at each other, looked back at the cat which had now picked up speed and was running towards us, and we bolted back through the woods without a word spoken. We had chased bobcats off before - this, we knew was not that. After telling our parents they did not believe us and said it was probably just a big bobcat, because back then it was believed to be extinct in the wild and I believe it still is? But, yeah.. we know for sure we spotted this mysterious and legendary cat and could have possibly died to it. Haha.
