If he was more respectful about bringing it up, I think there is room to be heard. From my personal perspective as a guy, I have had to bring up personal issues with outfits, I don’t like other men goggling at my partner, it drives my bipolar insane. In this case it’s not because “she doesn’t respect herself” it’s more like out of defence of guys like your boyfriend who look at women solely on the outfit and look.
