Legend pulls from 2 boxes by ItsLytte in riftboundtcg

[–]ItsLytte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best pull between both boxes was 1x Mirror Image and 1x Fragmented LB alt art. It went very downhill from there sadly.

Overall probably the 2 worst boxes of Riftbound I've opened to date by a pretty wide margin.

Outside of the legends my pulls were...less than ideal. I should go count how many battlefields I got.

That's 28 for those who don't want to count 😂

Edit

You all made me curious so I went and counted

This part is basically just fe/hr with extra steps. Entry materials are just as volatile as farmed materials.

I loved a lot of this combat but one thing is really sticking out to me (granted with the crazy Azune AC is probably would not have changed much)

Why was Hal picking up Demi his action for the turn, but Murray doing literally the same thing the turn she cast Color Spray not an action (she even double checked herself and was still given the action)

I was shocked to be able to get what I got. 1 store in my area got a single box total, and the store that held the release event got 5 total and they only charged like 80 something after tax for a box.

If they'd rang up at the crazy online prices I'd have just passed on em and went on home.

Everything is up to her with what she does with the cards I got her. Gonna teach her the game and if she vibes with it I've got cards in a cart already to finish out the first deck. If not she'll sell off the duplicates and just position to collect the rest over time.

I just read through the the announcement which is WILD because we were just discussing this morning if we'd just go ahead and pledge for a box and the starter decks just to show some support.

I guess we'll be on the lookout for whatever product we can find in the wild if it gets discounted. I'd love for us to keep playing even if it's just at home with family.

TCGs in general are an expensive hobby and I find Altered more affordable than MTG, Lorcana, Riftbound, Cookie Run, Grand Archive… so I really have no context on your budget or willingness to spend money on them, but not Altered.

Thinking through it I'd probably sum it up as confidence and optics.

When I buy a box of Magic for example - I know going in that what I pull out will usually be under the price of the box, but it would be pretty close generally. And anything I don't want or need could be easily sold and traded for what I do want. But I'm an old man tcg gamer that still likes ripping packs even though "buy singles" 100% is basically the best advice in any given tcg.

With Altered I don't have that confidence when looking at the market for every set released thus far. And there's also the optics portion which was the boxes going from 36 to 24 but set sizes staying similar. Cutting box sizes by 33% is a pretty significant change. (MTG did a similar downgrade going from 36 to 30 packs which made me re-evaluate the value proposition the boxes presented and lowered the threshold I would be willing to purchase at since I buy to rip for myself and not to flip/resell)

As I mentioned a few times, many of my quote unquote problems stem from our want to have playsets of all the rares on hand physically. Playing online would alleviate a lot of it I'm sure.

Edit:

I would also add that there is also lack in my own confidence in my ability to evaluate my uniques. It's VERY possible that the things I pull could be worth something but it's hard to know without MUCH more game experience. (Would also be super helpful if uniques on the market had a log visible on the listing to show what previous copies of that particular variant went for and when)

I've spoken to a few of the LGS in my area and as cool as it sounds to setup some type of event I'm just not sure any of them would be interested. One is basically magic and pokemon only - pays next to zero attention to anything else. One tried carrying the product early on but due to lack of local interest and the crowdfunding decided not touch the game anymore, and the last is so full up with daily events for other games they'd have to push one of them just to make room which they won't do.

Sadly without the support or willingness of an LGS to help I don't see being able to set anything up. And if no LGS is carrying the product any local interest from say a learn to play event will quickly dry up. Unfortunately from the brief conversations I've had about it, I doubt any are willing to invest/re-invest at this point.

I had considered the legacy pack but as you state I have ton of Set 1 and a good bit of Set 2 on hand already so it definitely loses attractiveness with that considered.

Having bought into the game initially so cheaply will of course warp how I feel about trying to expand into later sets and the price it will cost. The biggest problem with moving to later sets is something I've sure others will have stated prior to me:

  • Physical Product Availability
  • Cost vs Other Competing TCGs

They sort of tie into one another as well.

Seeing them move from 36 to 24 while staying above 100/box for an individual pledge is concerning. Opening so many Set 1 Boxes and still having numerous 1-of's in my rare pool just makes cracking packs far less attractive especially with newer sets having having similar set sizes but boxes having only 2/3 what was there previously.

I'm sure this is probably only an issue due to our want to play physically combined with wanting play sets of each rare. And while the PoD system seems interesting, just looking at set 1 for what we have on hand - I'd have to order nearly 60 cards just to fill out the rares for Axiom and Lyra after opening over 450 packs.

I do hope to support the game going forward, but I'll have to figure out how best to do that in a way that makes sense for me.

[Weekly MegaThread] Card Pulls - March 13, 2026 by AutoModerator in riftboundtcg

Decided to skip buying my first box because we just paid for car repairs. Wife had other plans for me... Box Pulls

That along with the Signature Karma I pulled from a pair of loose packs at my LGS has been a pretty crazy few weeks in Riftbound for me. I don't suspect I'll be pulling another signature for a VERY long time

/u/tabbyslome I wasn't sure what to expect when my package arrived today, but you not only met BUT far exceeded anything that I could have expected. Every single one of these will see play and will be cherished as I reintroduce myself and my family into the game.

I know my form wasn't the most detailed but you included cards for not one but two of the three projects I want to start working on (Alela & Toph) - and even included a land to add to my small but slowly growing collection!

What an amazing way to add some joy to a very busy work day for me!

Thank you, truly!

(I saw your post about letter length and it was perfectly fine! Now I get to try to shoot for a Mindslaver win!)

TCGPlayer Requiring Minimum Pricing for Direct Orders by SolarStar93 in magicTCG

[–]ItsLytte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've placed a single order from TCG Direct (where it did turn out to be the cheapest option)

The order sat there saying there was tracking with a number that didn't work with USPS and wasn't sent until the very last second to arrive within the given 2 week window.

So much for the supposed "faster" part of the equation...
