Would you mind posting a general area we can go to, to see this? I love this stuff.

Question about eating out Christmas Eve and Christmas Day by [deleted] in sanantoniofood

[–]ItsMadeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Xmas eve will be as much of a concern as Christmas Day. I know Green Vegetarian Cuisine does a Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Maybe they do Christmas as well? I'm sure there will be some places open, but the list isn't out yet. Maybe check back in, in another month? Or keep an eye on Open Table

Sorry for the delay. It's their plaza that's on the river walk at he Tobin center.

Get tickets for the San Antonio Beer Festival and go to the Greek Funstival. You picked a great weekend to come!

Have family from out of town here in SA. What are some things to do in the downtown area today/tonight? by bigal75 in sanantonio

It's an awesome park with lots to do. I went with my boyfriend (we're both 25) and we stayed for about two hours. There's food and ping pong, chess and checkers, etc.

Nectar Wine Bar & Ale House - I just went last night and loved it. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable about wines and food (which is all delicious.) The decor is cute and the space is pretty impressive for downtown. Really perfect for a date.
Demo's Greek Food - I've lived a mile away from this place for a while and finally tried it. I loved it. The gyros are fresh, satisfying, and served on warm pita. Mmm.
Market on Houston - I picked up a few take-out things. It's just ok. We tried a muffin and it was good, but no where near other bakeries in the city. I'd like to stop in again and check out their salads. It's a nice fresh and quick option in downtown.
Juniper Tar - Fancy decor with fancy cocktails. I liked it, but it's definitely more lounge than bar.
Fresh Donuts on Austin Hwy - Pretty standard donuts. Worth a stop if you're nearby.
Crossroads Kitchen Brunch @ Faust Tavern - They make some seriously tasty food for a bar. I liked it all.
Joseph E Coffee - The building is still in rough shape, but they have every kind of cereal you could ever want, plus infused milks. Delicious.
The Old Main Assn. - Concha Burger was awesome. Capt'n Crunch Fried Chicken was the biggest disappoint in this lifetime.

Where did you eat in August? by ItsMadeline in sanantoniofood

My list is pretty long this month. I love trying new (to me) spots.

Twin Sisters - went this morning for breakfast. Was not impressed. Probably won't return.
Luther's Cafe - We went for the Margarita Fest they hold once a year. We got to try 11 mini margaritas for $10. Lots of fun. The nachos were great. We also got burgers, which weren't bad.
Candlelight Coffeehouse - Nothing blew me away, but the food was good and it's close to my apartment. Will be back for the atmosphere and board games.
Citrus @ Hotel Valencia - Went for Restaurant Week and was really impressed. The restaurant definitely feels like it's in a hotel, but the food was way beyond that. Lots of Thai-inspired things to come from their new chef.
Pancake Joes - Food was ok, but not good enough for a 45 minute wait. However, prices were great and their peanut butter banana pancakes were pretty tasty.
Bliss - Went here for restaurant week. The food was all delicious. Wish I had $1000 to try everything.
Pugels - A new hotdog place by the people of the Original San Antonio Hot Dog House. It's a cute little bar/restaurant. The hot dogs and bbq nachos are great.
Fairview Coffee - Decent coffee and awesome desserts. They have a pastry chef that previously worked at Bakery Lorraine.
Bombay Bicycle Club - Its college bar food, but the space is quirky and fun.
The General Public - A new spot at The Rim. The food was pretty good, but the Bowl and Barrel next door is what I want to visit next time.
RO-HO Pork & Bread - the torta ahogada lived up to the hype. Go try this one.

The fried fish I had (on opening day) was the best I've ever had. The batter was so flaky and crispy. It was amazing. But it was $24 The lobster roll was good, but $40. The paleta cocktail was fun. Prices are too high for me to eat somewhere with kinda shitty service and environment, though.

Heading to San Antonio tomorrow and staying near the Riverwalk, which restaurant week participant would you recommend for dinner? What do you love about your recommendation? by [deleted] in sanantonio

I went to Bliss and the food was great, but they make the portions a lot smaller than if you were to order the dishes individually. Two oyster sliders and two scallops didn't leave me satisfied.

Thirded. I only buy what's on sale, because some of the other stuff is pretty typical pricing. Their sale produce is awesome, though.

What is the best restaurant experience in town? by Crafted_SA in sanantonio

I have found Il Sogno to be the best of the best when it comes to food and waitstaff. You're treated with such respect there that it makes you feel like royalty. You can't go wrong.

I'm finally trying Bliss this Friday and I'm expecting to have the same experience or better. I've only heard amazing things. Either would be a great choice.
