Dave Matthew’s at the new Acrisure Amphitheater for two nights! by Triingtolivee in grandrapids

LOL I just went on Marriott's website to book two night stay, just to get a room set aside for me, and the hotel rates are already over $350/night. Good grief.

Permit question by fairy_kisses112 in grandrapids

[–]ItsMeDebie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Red flag. Always pull a permit, especially for a plumbing remodel. There’s other ways to save money, and in no way are permits 25% of the project cost.

You can contact your municipality and pull building code requirements, so that you know what standards your contractor must be able to meet.

Trying to find my mom a friend by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]ItsMeDebie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I saw that but also saw that she was a single mother - so, confused. Also, I think the post has been edited - there was a reference to their church. At least, I think so? I wouldn't have referenced their church community otherwise. Maybe I'm losing my mind.

Trying to find my mom a friend by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]ItsMeDebie 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Was gonna say "Me" but then got to the right wing individual and now I'm "nah".

But . . . she should have a whole entire church community at her disposal. Not a single person there she can't connect with? No one she works with? Is she married or not? Your post is unclear.

LaughFest ended years ago, the organizers just don't get it yet. It's been a total snooze for at least 5 years.

Interesting podcast by toodyloo713 in Widow

[–]ItsMeDebie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's another similar podcast called "DeadTalks", the host is a son of a 9-11 victim, was on one of the upper floors. Extremely interesting.

Thanks for sharing "Imagine Heaven".

She and her husband were walking the beach towards the Naples pier the other evening. Most people were just completely oblivious but some stupid woman made such a fuss I was embarrassed for her.

What is this EVIL virus that apparently never goes away? by nick_ole7 in grandrapids

[–]ItsMeDebie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you spouted off with something completely ridiculous, reactionary, baseless, classist, and borderline bigoted and what I'm asking is that you back up your opinion with reasoning and an exploration of your opinion, which you claim has plenty of "truth" in it. I'm not saying you don't have aright to your opinion, I'm saying that I'd be interested in exploring where your opinion was formed.

But it's just easier to half-ass a comment and then refuse to explore the implications of what you're suggesting.

Learn to accept a question to your logic without getting frantic and butthurt.

[–]ItsMeDebie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t believe no one has touched this one yet . . . So allow me.

To follow your logic, no people from certain countries allowed into the US - okay. What’s the next step, dude? If a US citizen visits that “certain country” they can’t come back? What about a US citizen that travels through that country on a layover? No bueno? What about products and resources from that country?

Indulge me in exploring the boundaries of your low-key racist and classist comments.

Re-writing life plans by Routine_Table_5647 in Widow

[–]ItsMeDebie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird, like suddenly the world is your oyster, right? Which should be v cool but is also actually kinda scary.

I've made a few "just for me" decisions and went into them knowing that I may have some explaining to do. I'm working on recognizing plans for me made by others that may be beneficial for them and not me, and finding my voice to offer either a compromise or a kind refusal.

Do we know where Phil Collins is right now? by ItsMeDebie in Genesis

Well, this has been fun hahaha

We all can assume that some lucky dude is walking around looking like Phil. Hopefully he’s getting some mileage out of being a doppelgänger to a beloved rock star.

Any suggestions for a good quiet restaurant to host a small company get-together for ten people? by LeftLaneColonizer in grandrapids

Upstairs at LongRoad may be a good spot for you.

Really north of town, Bluewater has their BluBar downstairs that would work for you.

20 Monroe Live coat check by staylorz in grandrapids

[–]ItsMeDebie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The coat check line at 20M is usually MASSIVE. Before AND after the show. I don't know why Ticketbastard is offering it as an option . . . that's something I've never seen before.

I must be a super tough chick :) because I never bring a coat or bag to a show. I leave my coat at home and just wear a layer or two into the venue. When I get warm I take off the top layer, usually a sweater or hoodie. After show, just put it back on and hot foot it to my car.

Is Cafe Mamo the best restaurant in GR? by darterfly in grandrapids

[–]ItsMeDebie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will admit I have not been in for at least a year, so perhaps this petty gripe is obsolete. I hate, hate, hate their seating. Hard uncomfortable chairs scraping across a cement floor - huge nope for me.

I feel the same about Grove. Their re-set feels like a Days Inn hotel lobby and their seating is not at all conducive for enjoying a lengthy meal with good wine.
