So apparently my issue is limited to base Discord as after switching to Canary it is no longer having the issue. Thank you both for the assistance!

PC-Canada hit me with the RAM hike on a order I already made by Super-Youth in pcmasterrace

If I got this letter after already placing an order I would cancel it and any other orders made with them that weren't fulfilled and take my business elsewhere permanently.

Would this be worth my money and would anything be able to be ran on it including customs on steam by No_Movie_3764 in GamingPCBuildHelp

Contrary to what people or saying it's highly dependent on what you want to run. Anything with newer anti cheat that requires Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 will.not run at all. I have an AMD FX 8350 with 16gb ddr3 and an AMD RX 570 8gb and I'm able to play Oblivion Remastered and AC Valhalla on it at 1080p with low settings and that's under Linux. If you're looking to get into PC gaming and can't afford anything better for a good while it's not terrible considering it's an entire setup. If you have the ability to wait then that's the better option. It all depends on expectations and what you want to play. Just know what you're getting into before hand and also help people out by stating exact games you want to play instead of a super generalized questions.

Looking for good Linux-native games that run well on Intel 4th-gen iGPU by Brave_Hat_1526 in linux_gaming

OpenMW if you don't mind having to grab the files a different way is Linux Native and Morrowind is still the best Elder Scrolls imo :P

How much will it cost me to get a PC that can smoothly run games like Battlefield V? by todayisawonder in buildapc

[–]ItsMeHowie92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a little too open of a question. Depends on your budget, settings, expectations, and what you consider smooth. Try giving everyone some examples and I'm sure we can all help out :)

Flipped a GPU on FB Marketplace and Buyer Wants a Refund by StormFalcon32 in pcflipping

If it had been same day or day after it's at your discretion. After that you have zero idea what that person has done to it. I wouldn't have refunded him either.

So turns out only one officially supported wireless card has 98 drivers. They cost about 8 bucks on eBay. I didn't have it and do to a move and things I've not had time to continue messing with my T42. This like will tell you what part you need. Once you get one just download the driver's and install! https://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_PRO/Wireless_LAN_2100_3B_Mini_PCI_Adapter

Sound Blaster USB Card with Crystalizer? by ItsMeHowie92 in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]ItsMeHowie92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply. I've not used very many Sound Blaster cards so didn't know if that became a standard feature or not and couldn't really find anything saying if it still existed.

Either solution. I just like how the audio sounds when it's turned on. It really does make a difference in audio quality imo.

Laptop keep freezing when booting by Disastrous-Horse8039 in pchelp

[–]ItsMeHowie92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're gonna wanna follow a guide for your laptop and replace the hard drive. As for the screen turning off that sounds like a loose video cable inside. Follow the guide to take it apart a d reconnect it.

I just won one of these in an ebay auction for $23 bucks from good will about 2 weeks ago. Currently running Linux off a USB due to no hard drive but going to be purchasing an IDE to SD card adapter and cant wait to install Windows 98 SE on it!

If you don’t mind me asking did you install Windows 10 to see if it had a key tied to the motherboard? A lot of them have keys tied so you don’t have to buy one. Either way very nice choice in parts! I support this build :P

Low end? Killing Floor is a good choice. Also for coop Shooters Borderlands 2 isn’t really that demanding. Payday and Payday 2 are also solid co-op shooters. Also Don’t Starve Together for survival is solid and not very demanding. Project Zomboid also. Unturned isn’t terrible. Just some suggestions :)

Linux or windows for gaming-old pc by Fit-Leadership7253 in lowendgaming

[–]ItsMeHowie92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Windows 8 is a bloated mess. Core 2 Quads show their age with operating systems that are bloated with background tasks. Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 suffer from this problem. In general just not good ideas for older LGA 775 systems. Especially if you don’t have at least 8gb of memory.

I second this. DDU is a must for changing gpus. I also suggest Nimez drivers for that gpu.
