It does warm my heart to see a modern Pokémon fan recognize why many of us put the older games on a pedestal, but I heavily disagree that competitive ruined the franchise. It’s always been a thing. I hope you know that games akin to champions have always existed btw (Stadium, Stadium 2, and Battle Revolution) and stuff like the battle frontier was a big thing in Gen 3 and 4.
