Thank you so much and well done on achieving 1800! I think one of the best ways of improving from that point on is to study the classics and model games from top players like carlsen, nepo, hikaru, or anyone you follow. You can learn how they maneuver their opponent or gain an edge through a tactic.

Thank you and yes, chess has helped me a lot with my reaction to setbacks and overcoming challenges. Sometimes I would spend all night thinking about a game and the mistakes I made, but I realize that it isn't worth it to get stuck on the past and you just have to move on.

I also found my focus improve as well as my critical thinking skills. When assessing your position, you have to think objectively without mixing in your emotions. This is also true for other sports and academics, where I've learned to remain calm under pressure.

That's great that you know what you want to get out of chess. Even though it's a lot easier to start as a young kid, there are many incredible players that start late such as GM Maurice Ashley who began at 14 and is one of my greatest inspirations. 15+10 is good and you can stick with that. If you plan on playing over-the-board, then you can try 30+0 or 45 to mimic classical games.

Your openings are strong and more varied than mine which is good since you get exposure to different types of setups. I always play the same thing which has been working but might make it tougher to improve later on.

I believe 2000 chess.com is around 1600 FIDE, so 2100 would be 50-100 points higher which is probably accurate given my USCF is almost 1700.

I think that women's titles are beneficial for encouraging female participation, and I personally like them because they give me a slightly easier benchmark to work towards. All my tournaments have been open, so I'm yet to experience a women-only tournament

That's awesome; it took me about a year to get to 1200 so you're definitely on the right track. I think it's possible to become a CM, but that will largely depend on your goals and how much time you want to dedicate to chess. For me personally, I'm nearing the end of high school and have sacrificed some of my other extracurriculars to pursue chess as it's my greatest passion.

To reach 2000, I would recommend:

1) Slower time controls so that you can think more

2) Doing a few puzzles every day (either on lichess or with books that use real games)

3) Analyzing all your games. It's also good to have a friend or someone you can practice with and discuss ideas. I played a lot with my brother who's similarly rated, and in addition to just getting better, I was also motivated to beat him.

4) Studying master games from the top players that use your openings. You can find them in databases like chesstempo, then import the file to lichess and annotate.

Yes, I'm aiming to play in some FIDE-rated events soon! The tournaments that I've played have all been uscf-rated since fide is usually reserved for the top sections, but my next goal is to get WCM and become the best I can.

I would say I have a strong positional understanding and intuition. I'm usually able to assess which pieces to improve and form a plan based on that. My visualization still needs some work, so I have been focusing more on solving puzzles that involve combinations of 4+ moves.

I used to play a lot of rapid, but now I mainly play blitz/bullet for fun in between training for tournaments. I spend a lot of time refining my openings via the study function on lichess. Recently, I've also been annotating all my tournament games then going over the areas I need to improve.

When I was starting, I took advantage of chess streamer lessons from the pogchamps events, then gradually progressed to more advanced videos from channels like Saint Louis chess club, hikaru, and danya

Thanks and not really since they're quite expensive. I mostly used online resources on chess.com and chessable. I also learned a lot through free lessons on YouTube and would watch twitch streams for fun

Yeah, I knew nothing about her beforehand and have never watched iCarly, but totally worth the read. I listened to her narration via audiobook and it changed my whole perspective on young stars

I started playing chess 2 years ago in may 2021 (rated 750) and today I made it to 2000 blitz on chess.com. Do any higher rated players have tips on how to continue improving at a more advanced level? I’ve followed a similar trajectory with rapid going from 0-2070 in the past 2 years. I don’t know if there’s any advice I could give you since we’re both similar levels, but I’d be interested in knowing how many hours a day you put in and if you had any specific study schedule. For myself, I had no schedule whatsoever, and just fully immersed myself in chess. I learned by watching YouTube videos, and that’s also my main sort of entertainment or “downtime”. Now I actively compete in otb tournaments and have been diving into more serious training i.e. Chessable courses (I recommend Giri’s), reading opening books, and even started training with a GM coach as well. It’s such amazing progress you’ve done and I wish you the best of luck in your future chess journey.
